weapons not working when plane is out of fuel

The way the fuel system works, when a plane runs out of fuel, the weapons all stop working, even if they don't require any fuel to fire. This is mostly a problem with things like air-to-air turrets on bombers. As it is now, once a bomber has dropped its bombs, it is completely vulnerable to fighters. I would really appreciate if someone could fix this, as bombers are getting a more central role in the next version of nota and it can be frustrating when a single fighter takes down half your bomber squadron because they couldn't defend themselves. I would imagine Spring 1944 would also benefit from this whenever they add airplanes.

I dont know how the system works, but from what you are saying it would seen that the you use the "fuel" to control the number of bombers he can bomb, but the value was made to be used for the whole unit, meaning that it would require some sort of ammo value... just a wild guess tough :)

well, all I really want is for weapons that don't require fuel to not be disabled when the plane's fuel is empty.

well

Fuel to my knowledge is controlled via cob/bos, and can be changed, this isn't a feature request, it's a script fix.

I want weapons that are still able to shoot on empty fuel. Giving the plane more fuel through cob doesn't solve the problem, all it would do is make the plane never have to go back for fuel in the first place.

failure to understand the question! its an engine bug, not bad scripting.

would also be nice if you could impliment a fuel/ammo system for ground units too. but thats a whole other thread.

no

I understand the question, somewhere, the script is telling it not to be able to fire, or it floods the unit with RETURN FOR REFUELING, and won't let it attack till that is done. Please post the script, maybe one of the modders here can help you.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE COB

It doesn't return jack, it just cancels AimWeaponX.

case in point.. its not a script function.. its a game function and as such can only be fixed by a patch or alteration..

It's not a bug, it's a design failure :P.

Considering that both are phail and both require you to go into the script and fix it, cant we say its the same thing?... :)

Stop talking about stuff you don't know.

"Fuel" is an engine feature, and has nothing to do with script. When a unit runs out of fuel, the engine overrides everything about the unit and sends it back to get more, and disables all the weapons - it can no longer carry out any orders, or attack, or anything.

Except that some weapons don't take fuel, and should still be enabled.

Then it means that the "fuel" feature shouldnt be used as ammo, since a ammo-less unit should still obey you... someone make a "ammo" feature :)

Not the problem, not needed either.

We just want units to be able to have tail gunners fend off hostile planes tailing us, that is all.

Um, if somebody feels like fixing this, could they also, maybe, finally just give us Fuel for everything, not just planes? That'd be pretty nice... yeah, I know this is LUA-able and you can even do it with COB, but, meh, it's something that I honestly think should just be in the engine proper...

Shit, yes, I need fuel for vehicles.

+1 Million.

I think that's interesting, but then we need more huge maps. Havin' little outposts with gas stations and some towers. Havin' little trucks runnin' around with huge fuel tanks on the back to get the fuel to the outpost. That's deep, AHHHHHHHH!
