You can't, TA is still a licensed program, protected by copyright.

Spring runs other content, ranging from TA-derivatives such as XTA/BA to Gundam RTS and E&E.

I thought all of the "best" mods run needing TA content, i have been trying to find TA retail around the net for a few hours and no luck :(
Whats XTA?

That is only for legality purposes.

In a way, we are illegally distributing TA content to the players and people like you. You don't need it to play any mods though.

Edit: Also, they are not the best, just the most critically acclaimed and loved. They are actually quite horrid looking at them from a modders standing point. From a player viewpoint, they are the largest and best balanced..

So i don't need to get TA to play spring...? :|
I've been reading all night about how you need TA to play anything other then Gundam and that Darwin like game.

Kernel Panic, 1944, SWS, Gundam RTS and E&E among others require no OTA content to play.

All the content needed to play anything for Spring is downloaded when you download the mod and the spring engine.

There are plenty of games other than the AA, BA, TA, XTA, etc.

Such as Gundam RTS by smoth, Epic Legions by GuessMyName, Nanoblobs by Argh, Expand and Exterminate by Fang/Fanger, and the (hopefully) soon to be released Spring:1944 and Star Wars Spring, Blox by RCDraco, Kernal Panic by boirunner, and a couple of other mods/games.

I forgot some of them, I am also creating my own. We have a lot of mods/games that don't rely on TA content.

Its a shame that this is an obstacle to so many new players (and i truly believe it is). I too remember reading this and being quite confused.

Luckily i owned a copy of TA, but it was so long ago that there is no way i could find the CD.

I guess its just a matter of making some morre solidd, original content mods. Not much else we can do there.

i own TA cant fidn the cd for the life of me but i got the manual it sucks tho that alot of new law obiding players want to purchase the original content which is so hard to find theres gotta be a way around tis :(

if a game is seriously impossible to find it shows that the creators and owners dont give a crap about it so people could just use spring even with ta content ? (tho the ta content is being remade to move away from copyright problems)

But if spring gets overly popular and word spreads to much i see atari jumping on our ass to cash in its rilly bleh untill the TA mods get rid of all the copright infringing stuff

i know theres other mods but most people come here to play the TA remakes
and the TA remakes atm r the most "balanced" complete bug free games out. the other mods r still not entirely finished atm i hope they get finished soon for some alternative games i know some r already out but rilly looking forward to starwars spring a working version of gundam wen the engine fixes the probs and 1944 final and ofc other new mods :]

Its just annoying at the moment

and its also impossible to track down if u own a copy or not cos bak then games didnt have cd key's and TA certainly didnt so you cant rilly be traced to see if u own one or not :S

Why dont we just modify every OTA file just a bit, so the files are different and we dont need to say "you need TA to play legally OTA based mods".

by smoth
the answer is EBAY

Currently, only the sound effects in OTA mods were ported from TA. Anyone got access to a decent radiophonic workshop?

How do you play a single player game without needing to go online?
