TheRegisteredOne, faking other people's mod links to make them download your own stuff isn't a very polite thing to do...

Apparent explanation
You have already made a giant fool of yourself by uploading your mod onto a server where I am admin... You're uploading 8mbs of file every hour just to prove your point, and what a point it is: it is ok to take people's shit if you asked them and they say no!
All I can say is: lol.

Oh i see :S
Sad thing his mod got negative attention because of this, it actually is a quite fine one with potential imho.
Also, although it certainly isn't the nicest thing in the world to use other people's work without permission (so i can understand TRO being upset), if i knew how to model and had the chance to have my stuff in a mod so lots of people could see it ingame i'd be quite pleased...

Well, yeah but you'd probably be upset too if you told someone not to and he did it anyway.

Yes, true...as i said i understand him being upset, only that i don't quite see the point in not giving Tired permission in the first place when he asked the first time, especially when apparently there haven't been any near-future plans with the Talon stuff in Spring (and even if there had been they certainly could have profitted from Tired's work done to the saucer model).
Anyways, i hope this issue will be resolved since i'd find it quite sad to see a promising mod vanish. As i said, if i could model i would be happy to make a new saucer model for the mod, but i can't... :/

Its bullshit that an excelent mod like Tired's is being shitcanned because of the emotional state of a childish Moderator.
Tired did you a service registeredone, and brought your work to life in spring, and you return the favor with poor decisions.

It's TRO's artistic right to not give permission, and this is not to be questioned. It is entirely his prerogative, and his right. I don't think it reflects badly on him at all, and I respect his decision.
He has also indicated that he would be happy for people to use his TA work, so long as they remain with the sides he made them for. Which seems a pretty reasonable caveat to apply, given that he doesn't have to give away his stuff at all.
Hell, I know I've had people come asking me to use my SW stuff in a few mods (some spring ones even), and turned them away.

TBH i think UF shouldn't had removed TiA Because its full of copyright issues already... If tro don't want his stuff to be used he shouldn't put it online, We all know that our "honor" system is not 100 % proof.
Not sure if TRO did include a license? but if he did he should talk to the cops, maybe they can help out.

I think you guys are blowing it way out of proportion, mistake was made, hand got slapped, now you can quit acting like fools.
Sombody else is already remaking a heavy unit for TiA to replace the Zenith.

Taking TRO's stuff after being
specifically told "no" and then deliberately antagonizing and flaming other users is not what most people would call just a "mistake".

work? you mean how he practically copied, verbratim the whole thing without any changes? even the stuff that is needed by OTA but not spring like the flying bits of damage to simulate a giant explosion or the random laser firing point to make it as though there were more than 2 flaks?
Tired did you a service registeredone, and brought your work to life in spring, and you return the favor with poor decisions.
I do not wish for any Talon model to be brought to life in spring for any faction other than Talon. Furthermore, being the massive attention whore I am, I wish to receive credit for my work.
Sombody else is already remaking a heavy unit for TiA to replace the Zenith.
given that spring shades its models and that the flying saucer is essentially just a giant flat donut, i doubt it will be very hard to model a new one and look the same if not better than the ota model hax. i'd imagine it would be quite easy to uv map it too considering its simple geometry.

From what he's been posting, Tired is giving off impression that it was his original to receive this negative publicity, and his mod is created for the sole purpose of pissing people off. OF course, I could be wrong.

Yes, let us drop this, and quit acting like fools

FYI: since the cat is out of the bag, and people clearly didn't find the joke funny, FU link removed

Tired's mod is to bring some "real balance" back into the game, instead of mindless T1 spam where only vehicles can win, he is also bringing into a balanced game, new features and units into it that he and many others feel is a better gameplay than what BA has become.
Its not to piss sombody off, its because Tired is good at TA, and likely was getting bored with the same old..
If he has to borrow or steal some stuff to acomplish what he can't make or do himself, I guess you gotta do what you gotta do..
Yeah art and models work is a toutchy subject, and people want their own work to be dealt with on their own control, but this is a free game, so he is stealing free stuff.. lol
On the other hand, the said unit in question is from OTA, for a mod that nobody plays, nobody has likely seen, and is probably never going to get ported to spring in its completion without a massive undertaking to do that, so in short.. never.
At best, the unit exists as a placeholder for now.
Tired brought that unit which as I said above, which would likely never be seen in spring, and got it working, and with help and effort got it out of the grave and into the game.
For this, you ban him, delete his entire mod from existance (which you really have no right to do) because of the inference of this 1 said unit.
Maybe a little negotiation was in order, instead of the path that you chose, which is being a poor sport about it all IMO.

License is irrelevant. Copyright is the default proposition, and permission to violate copyright must be explicitly granted... but nobody will enforce it anyways, since laywers cost money and there is no money to gain in this (what, you think Tired has deep pockets?) and this is somewhere below finding little Jimmy's missing pencil-case on the list of priorities for the police.

There was negotiation. It's not like Tired just took the unit, got caught, and said "my bad, I'll take it out in the next version". He asked permission, TRO tried to negotiate ("sure, if you help me port other stuff too"), and Tired said no, and used it anyways.

Wow.

Spring must have a LOT of 'no one' around, aka pretty much anyone who actually makes their own content (and others), then.

Well most ppl respect the "honor-license" but you can't enforce it... and we shouldn't enforce it.
That being said, i fully respect the work you ppl do, but you can't really protect your work. Its just impossible.
