This is the first map I have posted but is the third map I have started designing (actually the fourth concept I thought about) and I made it mainly to get a handle on the sizing and so forth for a 4v4 style map.

I've gone for a 24x16 map and wanted to play around with ramps, this is the start, going to see how it plays (I suspect unfortunately it may be a bit of a porc map, maybe I should reduce the amount of m on the spawn points, I've also got some ideas about the bridges).

I know the texture map sucks majorly. That's mainly because I wish to test the map. Some maps that I enjoy playing are pretty light on in the texture department so I'm not too worried, I want to see more how the game play goes.

Please feel free to make comments. If you do not like it then please explain why and how you would correct the problems instead of just comments like "It sux".

Well... looks like no one wishes to try my map... I suspect because the texture map looks utterly boring... maybe tonight I'll try and host a game and see if I can convince some people to join in to see how it plays.

I would have given it a go, but I'm not at a Spring capable computer. Anyway, don't be discouraged, nobody plays my maps either.

The massive flat areas could actually make for some interesting game play. You never know if people will like it until you play it.

Yup, that's what I'm hoping for. I'm still concerned about the choke point though.

On another note, I purposely made the circle in the centre lower than the edges of the flat parts so that if you happen to obtain the centre (with some nice m) you have an uphill battle to get to the other side. Prob is when I've tried out the map with just me, it seems to me that the slope isn't steep enough to make it truly interesting. Though in the same breath if it was too steep then people would find it too hard to battle up the slope.

Not familiar with metal hell... had a gander at unknown-files and they don't have a screen shot :( When I get home tonight I'll download it and have a gander, wasn't aware I had duplicated an existing map (though I spose there are only so many designs possible for simplistic maps, and I would consider mine to be simplistic).

Look forward to how you find it mate... maybe if your on later we can play a game or two (later as in about 4 to 6 hours)

I was just kidding Metal. :P If it doesn't give +23 per mex, then it isn't duplicating metal hell. XD

And in 4 to 6 hours I'll be in bed.

Well, tested the map last night... was interesting. Problems are:

* M spots are too far apart
* As they're so far apart the amount of m for the size of the map is too small
* The choke point in the centre means that whoever grabs the centre is almost guaranteed to win the game, i don't like this

I'm trying to debate whether I should rework the map while drastically modifying the centre bit, or whether I should ditch the map all together and start on a totally new concept?

If you want your map to be played, you really need to host games in the lobby. 90% of the community doesnt read this forum. Host games, if people enjoy it, they might host some games themselves.

On the map itself- it looks very, very chokey. Probably way too chokey. Also looks like you cant use hovercraft. It will probably end in a t2 air war (snore).

Yup, problem is other than the weekend, the time i'm on (GMT +10) doesn't work well for the rest of the world. :(

Yup, that's more or less what happened, though the air drops were the killer. To me I either redo the whole concept of the centre (which just doesn't work) or ditch the map.
