Always out of sync

If I join a server, I will desync after a minute or so. If I host a server, everyone else will desync after a minute or so. This didn't happen a few days ago. Firewall settings, Spring version, mod (BA) version, connection, PC hardware, have not changed. Nothing has changed. It just started happening, and now I'm restricted to singleplayer Spring. I haven't got the slightest idea of what could be causing this. Halp.

I don't see anything wrong with my hardware.

Nope, I don't use it.

did you try to reinstall in a different directory?

If your CPU has even a minor defect it might not do much wrong but the results of an operation may be slightly different which is enough to desync it.

Tried that now, didn't help.

How can I find these minor defects?

Try running Orthos http://www.overclock.net/attachments/do ... 060420.zip
overnight with the "stress cpu" option.

wasnt there also an antivirus thing that could cause desyncs..?

Well, Orthos didn't detect anything and the error isn't caused by any antivirus program.

I'm afraid we won't be able to help you... it works for lots of people.

Could it be a connection problems perhaps?

Limit on connections? Router improperly configured or windoze firewall interferring? ISP filtering something out you didn't know of?

What connection problems?

There are no limits I know of. Router - I have no idea how to configure it, but I'm pretty sure nothing changed with it when the problem showed up. Windows firewall is disabled. It could be the ISP, but what could I do about it then? If I call them, how could I explain the situation to them so they'd understand?

Maybe try running on another system by using the same network/router. You might be able to determine if your system or your network causes the desyncs.

I know this is dumb to say but if you alter the map or mod files at all it will desync (if it plays at all)... when you installed to a new directory did you move all the old stuff into it?

Also you might want to try a really fresh install... uninstall, delete directory, remove the registry keys etc.

Did your power go out recently? I've had my router re-set things like port settings in a power loss.

Anything else acting wonky? Other games connecting ok?

Well, I still have this problem, but I have noticed that it only happens on Balanced Annihliation! I haven't tried normal XTA yet, but 1944 and Star Wars I can play and even host 16 player games without any problems. But on BA, I desync. Is there any way I could log the events and supply them to the developers, so they could find the error?

Seems like the problem has returned; I desync on BA again. I don't remmeber how it happened, but the problem fixed itself last time. Has no-one else heard of this issue before?
