Still cannot Host and now I can't connect...

Sorry for making a new topic, someone responded to my first one right away and never checked it again after that so I'm just trying to see if everyone just overlooked my post.

I uninstalled TA and Spring (plus deleted the root folders) again and this time only installed TA Spring like he said. I still can't host (when I test the map it still says Failed. You probably cannot host with these settings, and now the Battleroom lags at the connect and when I try to join a game not in progress... it gives me various errors as to why I cannot join the game. I'm still at a loss here as to what to do o.O;

Make sure it just isn't one of the fields that has some non alowed letters.
Have you forwarded the correct port from your router? (says witch when you try to host from the battleroom)

Can you play Spring from running the "spring.exe" file?
Can you join games hosted by others?

I can unofficially host... as far as I know, no one can join for it gives me the "Failed. Probably Can't Host With These Settings" message... I've not been able to successfully connect to a person's host and if I have, I would time out.

Your problem may be that your ISP is not giving you a real IP address. Verizon doesn't give me one, for example, so I just can't host. The solution to this is to beg people to host for you, or to get a better ISP.

As to the lag upon connecting to a game, that is normal, as far as I know.

the lag upon connecting to games is the syncer running in the background. i am debating having that done at startup now, to speed up the whole battle room process, but it would mean that in order to "change mods", or use different units you'd have restart the client. is this something you all can deal with? if so, i'll put it in

Leave it as it is. Lots of times I will fail to sync upon joining (especially when like 5 people join a game at once). One solution is to leave and rejoin, which redoes the sync. If you made it do it on startup, I would have to reload the client. It is good to be able to reset that portion of the code easily, since it deals with network weirdness, and is pretty fragile.

I was also wondering...

You don't need TA installed.

jouninkomiko, put it in, absolutely. I assume later in development we will have mods that have their own set of maps and settings, so it will be a pain in the arse switching mods in the battleroom anyway. (Imagine you choose core and give yourself 10000 metal and energy, then change the mod and discover you have 10000 oil and are Soviet :) And that you just found a loophole for playing C&C on maps with metal and geothermal vents, which means that no one can build etc. etc.)
Plus, if you are downloading a mod from someone and they suddenly change to another you don't have, what happnens? You download both at once? The old download gets trashed?
