Arms following pivoted guns?

Has anyone gotten a good way using scripts to get how far to turn each arm for when you have a weapon that is mounted on a vehicle with a man manning it?

wouldnt it be easier to make the man and the gun one object so they turn pivot together? it might not look as nice but it would be much easier to implement

The gun would be mounted on another part, e.g. a tripod. Obviously you can't say the man is attached to the tripod.

No, but the man can be attached to the gun, and when the gun turns along the pivot of its tripod the man goes around with the end of the gun. Just script his legs to give some sort of shuffling anim. Like SWS's eweb thingy. And the MG on the RIB in BF2.

I already did that in one of my units (the buggy, which had... *checks UPS file* 30 parts, on the dot) that had a driver and a guy mounting a gun in the back.
It looks alright, but I just wanted to know if there was something that looked better.
