Poor cuppy can't get the insurance company to hurry up and buy him a new computer. At least he now knows who's side the lightning god is on.

thats a shitty ass surge protector. all mine have a hardwire failesafe so that if the current is OVER NINE THOUSAAAAND it simply burns the circuit out, cuts the power, and doesnt let mah hardware die B)

A surge protector won't help against a direct lightning hit in the house (this is probably even stated in its manual). It will only protect against high voltage spikes caused by distant hits. That's why its always better to physically disconnect the computer from power and network when a thunderstorm is coming, this way you may lose the router, but your comp will be safe.

My sockets are better than your sockets

All your sockets are belong to lightning :P

And lol at using your neighbours Wi-Fi.

Surge protectors... do you seriously expect a stream of electricity that went several miles/kilometers/furlongs through pure air to be stopped by some tiny electrical device? I don't :P

Anyway, glad you're fine mate.

imba, surge protectors are not ZOMYGOSH voltage and amperage protectors. My compy was hit in a lightening storm but luckily the rest of the house took the hit first... the surge did fry our oven.

that sucks cuppeh.

So, no health issues? Good - sorry about all that though, Cup.

"Borrowing" your neighbor's Wi-Fi is key for survival. Always make sure you have at least one stupid neighbor within your area for emergencies, two as an insurance, and if you are smart like me have three of them :P They come to be very handy.

As my mate once said to me (on msn), a garbage truck is surprisingly good protection from a wi-fi hacker
