im getting the "lag crash" in 1/4 of games and it seems to be very often on deltadry or maybe im playing it to often when it occures i can still move my mouse or select units or move around the map but all is frozen and i get the big smoke clouds from the geysers
its happening only to me from all the players in game
i thought its broadband problems and my lag spikes becouse im beeing constatly attacked by some spamer ips in small peroids of time but ive runned wireshark with the game and in the moment of hangup there wanst any broadcast attack on any of the ips in my sector
its driving me crazy and im not pretty sure when did it start
btw im running on windows x64
feel free to ask or request any data to help me solve this problem
im couting on YOU!

I am the same problem

I run spring 0.75b2 on windows xp sp2. After some time, all my unit will stop moving, I can't do any action other action than shift-escape or select unit ...
Good luck.

When the units start drifting and stop responding to orders, thats called "spring isnt recieving messages from the host".
When the hosts messages finally arrive the game momentarily speeds up to catch up and all the units lock back into position and carry on as usual.
If however the host does not regain contact the units carry on drifting, the game times out, and spring exits.
Spring however doesnt give an error emssage explaining what happened when this occurs, so people dont think "oo maybe the host crashed or my router blew it", instead they think "oo my spring crashed it must be a spring bug"

i get it and even most of this i knew alredy but still thats not an answer to my question
im asking why is it happening i dont have any internet problems in that monet ive run a game and wireshark in background and nothing strange happened there(meaning when ive crashed i didnt have any problems in pings to other servers or some lost packets)
btw its not the only online game ive play and even in FPSs i dont have this problems...
its always about 10-20 mins afther and its when im not the host
everyone in game is still playing
its hard to find clear answers about my case but can i do any test to check somehow whats causing this
its driving me crazy in the 8 games ive played today in 7 of them i was laged in about 10-12 min afther the game started the one ive didnt crashed was only 9 mins...

Are you sure?
It may be the route your traffic takes to the host.
It could be your router crashing under the mass of UDP packets.
It could be a problem with the other host
It could be a huge number of things.

What is your connection? What are the specs of your machine?

These are symptoms of a lost connection. If you want to find the cause, look at your network.

my con is dsl 550 dln and 280upl kbit/s
the only thing wierd about my connection is that the whole area of ips that im in is flooded with ddos packets on TCP(they are sent on broadcast) by some spamers their ips are
77.70.106.4
83.19.169.203
88.156.65.8
124.230.39.250
195.238.168.18
200.74.220.218
201.90.187.134
201.148.0.171
and the 90% of the packets comes from this ip 195.238.168.18 wich is actually in my area(its 195.238.168.* and 195.238.170.*)
those packets attacks occur in about 10-15 mins gaps and last for about 2-4 mins
when it happens im loosing a bit of my bandwitch but its not cousing me to instatly lag out form the game ive played sometimes on lags with 700-1000 ping when the combined mutli "hard" attacks occured
the other thing is that im getting constatly some udp packets from those spammers ips mb that is the reason but ive tested wth wireshark and the lag out occured when i didnt recived any packets
btw those all wierd packets arent addresed on my ip im just reciving them as a broadcast probably some pcs in my area has some troyans/viruses
ive alredy called about this case to the tele headquaters but they have told me its not their job to run around and calling to people that dont have an idea how to install/uninstall simple programs not mentionig reamoving a troyan
but i doubt its the main reason becouse i woudl be crashing in 1 min everytime
edit:
ah and no i cant change the tele company its a bit complicated in my place whem im living actually on holidays (its a bit monopoly) so i woudl rather quit spring then doing this if the situation will get intolerable

this flood may be a good reason. your router's (as in, your ISP's router) packet loss may go up by several percent and it takes only a couple of lost packets to disconnect you from the game.

I think a friend of mine had the same prob. Very often on deltasiegedry. The problem disappeared when 0.75 was released.
At least in his case I dont think it was network related since he has always been able to give away all his stuff to a teammate when this happened, so the connection to the host was still there.

Use winmtr (winmtr.sf.net) to ping someplace close to you on the wire (e.g. your dns servers or your ISP homepage.)

play with this on and look for packet lost when crash ?
edit:
i got 2 crash in exact same time then the first one at 10.02 time in game
in the program i got 3 packet lost but not sure if its in the same time as the crash
and another thing i can give the stuff to someone like somebody sad the sharing still works probably self d to but i wont just see it
its always afther 10 mins 3 time now...
yesterday it was the same always afther 10 mins...
i dont think its the internet thing...

If you're being attacked with DOS tools then you take their IP and do a DNS lookup to find its canonical name (string name). This should tell you what ISP they're on and sometimes where they are and what customr number they are.
You then write an email with this information and send it to abuse@*insert their ISP here* and hey presto the culprit is sent a warning letter by their ISP or dropped completely for breaking Terms of agreement.

but ill try to call about the one that is from my isp its seems that hes pinging all ips of the area and probably sending them to the others form all over the world... stupid wirus and stupid ppl that dont know what is happening with their pc...

edit :
the moste reasonable couse is my windows xp x64(64bit) or something in it
ive got 2 operating systems on same partition(quite wierd but works allright) the old one windows xp(32bit) was a system when ive previously used about an year ago now theres nothing there all uninstalled programs/browsers etc im not using it normaly anymore just for testing and some programs that can't work in x64 and i dont use them often to but for testing ive played many games in spring (same instalation, just changed the directory for a while instaled the new one at the old directory then delated and renamed the current back to have the instalation settings) and there it donst crash ive played games lasting 3h and many games above critic time 10-11 mins with any problems
what coudl have happen ??
ive played the game without this problems before on win x64 ??
