*UDPATED*
With a LOT of tweaking, tweaking, and more tweaking I'm finally getting this beast into a nice format. (and even more tweaking)

It's 22 x 28 in TA terms:

Image

It's about 15 megs zipped. Up to 6 players, plenty of room, lots of opportunities. This is my first map, so please be gental with the feedback.

An ingame shot, click to see the bigger version:

I had to add a "sandy shoreline" to every island and landmass. This accomplished two things, it gave a clear area where land meets water and also eliminated all trees under water. I've toned down the shores quite a bit to allow hovercraft to transfer on and off. Now with this sandy shore, the minimap looks interesting, but don't let that distract you from playing :-) And again, ENJOY!

My next map will be Europe/Africa.

Again, Storm if you want to upload that to FileUniverse go ahead :) I'll let you manage the files on there.

What did you make it with?

by Torrasque
I think we can't play with it until the next release of spring?

Disregarding that, it has been [ hosted ] anyway.

Aw, damn you slow loading!
My comp only loaded the top of the image for a little while, and it looked like some psychadelic new map texture (as in, looked like a game shot, rather than a minimap)

Looks like it'll be fun though.

Photoshop. Photoshop's my friend. :-) Smudge, blur, despeckle, all good.

Thanks storm for that, I'll leave all map related organization to your capable hands.

Torrasque... I can play it fine @.@;;

Although I am compiling the newest versions of spring as changes to the source code are made.

Spring is in DIRE need of a terraforming bot/veh/hover/air to "smooth" terrain, "lower" and "raise" terrain. 80% of that capability is already there, just needs to be fine-tuned for a unit.

No feedback though?

Or can anyone play it? @.@;;

Should I compile a new spring.exe for everyone? :P

I lauch the game, but the the texture is all black. And Spring crash after a few minute :(

I have the same black ground texture problem as Torrasque, though it didn't crash for me. I had the same problem on Peewee Blood Bowl too. This has never happened to me on any other map though, and I've tested all the other maps released for Spring so far.

Try it with this version of spring:

Totally not supported, so rename your old exe to .old or something ;)

It works just fine for me.

Your exe worked fine, I hope the changes you made to it will be included in the next release. The map is indeed beautiful, and huge is an understatement, but there are way to many trees. It ate my computer alive. Anyway, good job! Will you be making the rest of the world one continent at a time?

That EXE is FROM the changes they've made, I've made no additional changes. But like I said, you can't complain if something happens because it's not "released" :-)

Too many trees? NO WAY! You can hide units in the northern forest quite easily, unless of course someone burns it to the ground... Which I recommend doing if it's hitting your computer hard.. FIRE!!

Or am I the only one who loves doing that? :)

Yes, I plan on doing the world, but since we're limited on sizes I thought the best approach was to get the most detail out of smaller areas.

Europe and Africa will be an AMAZING map to play.

Did you find the Island of Atlantis on the map? :D It's secret ¬_¬

My comuter don't like such big map :(
Perhaps it's this special exe because on all maps, the game "lag" (I've got a sane amount of FPS, B don't reveal anything, but all order a delayed by 1 seconde)

Pathfinding becomes messy with a very large area.

*edit*
Pathfinding has/had a bug with non-square maps. See my post in Bugs

You are most kind to let me manage my own site

I curse the 10Mb limit. It gives me so much work.

dgun the area that is an issue... you will find that after the terrain has been altered that the commander can then level it out to build on it.
