satan has infected your computer, cover it in holy water and burn all your clothes.
seriously though, do either of you have a bad connection? maybe it can't keep up with all the sync requests, could be getting bad packet loss. also make sure you don't have any custom units. (although the new client should sort that... i guess, haven't really played with anyone who didn't have exactly what i have) maybe your friend is satan? start a sentence with "so i was helping unfortunate people and..." and see if it pisses him off.

Sync errors most often occurs because you have different files installed in your spring dirs. (at least i have never seen one in a game where all have the standard install, maybe some gamemod could cause it although it shouldnt be possible)

it happens sometimes.. killed 2 games so far...

edit:
last time we tried a 3v3 it was more like a Spectre vs Popups & rest of team vs 3 ( I was hosting  )
finnally the sync errors came.. about 10 minutes after the game started.. we had to stop at that point..

It has made playing with mods exept OTA patch ruled out. Which is bad. I really wanted to play the AA mod.

sync errors will occue if you live a long distance from the host.
