are we playing like actuall games? Cause I play AoE with my friends alot, but we basically play games where we hold off against like a bunch of hard AI's in a deathmatch.

to win AOE just play turks and spaem jassinary. porc your base with towers surrounded by houses so its impossible to get close to them

I was somewhat able to master a 21-Pop flush but thats basically all my skill in 'competitive' play. My friends were never really good so we basically just messed around. I always found scout cav's to be really expensive at first and id rather spend the food on more skirmishers.

Proce, i'll right I get iiiitt.
Still I love the 21 pop flush and getting fuedal in less than 10 minutes then just rushing a bunch of skirmishers to other guys base killing half of his villagers and forcing him to go into his town center. Then after that I would surround his posistion with more skirmishers and spearmen and then hit castle for some knights.... unfortunately this never sat well with my friends so instead we had games against eachother and peace treaties involving sheep.

I generally keep porcing heavly until I got the bigger arm I can and the better tech I can, and then I attack. Its probaly not a good tactic, but since I play mostly agaisnt the ai, that only makes small attacks and sucks at defense, and my brother, who does the same thing than me but with less efficiency, it works... :)

You should try playing against some of the 3rd party AI's; their really fun. BonecrusherAI is possibly my favourte. It's a DM AI who spams units really fast and cheats for 50k of a resource if it runs out.
