Unit Evolution

i dont know if this has been asked before, but when a unit gains 1.00 experiance or higher, it would turn into an advanced version of itself.

E.g. A Zeus would turn into an adv. Zeus
Bigger guns, faster legs, longer range, and cooler armor

and another idea of mine is when a certain type of unit "evolves," it would turn into a whole new unit that you cant normally make.

It can be done, with some work, you can give a unit new abilities and possible even reveal "new" elements of the model.

Yes, we have intentions to do something like this with our Jedi and Sith units.

Old way: what neddi said
New LUA way: I'm sure trepan's morph can be invoked through LuaCob too.

Possibly. It's just on paper at the moment, so it could well change, depending on how well it plays.

You won't get Jedi until well after the next release though; I don't want to get anyone's hopes up.

i was told (cant remember who by, but it was somebody who knows what they are on about) that unit movetype couldnt be changed in a unit morph (i was thinking of jump-infantry). Would this mean they cannot change speed when they morph?

A full morph would delete one unit and spawn another with some attributes copied over, I don't ssee why they should need the same movetype.

Me neither. That may be why Optimus never gave speed upgrades, however.

Optimus uses COB to upgrade stuff, Lua is different.

I thought we were still discussing the old method! My bad!

So the morph would lose current hp/xp etc? And if not would this make jump troops possible?

It would be quite nice to have experiance for units actually mean somthing.

It does mean something. It means quite a lot as is.

Pure COB wise no (and speed can be changed these days). Lua wise, I expect its actually possible to pass the XP/HP/other stats over to the new unit if needs be.

I hate to tell you that epxeriance doesn't mean anything to a unit.

Experience.

Did none of you ever play D&D as children? Honestly.

im sry pintle, but i could care less about jump infantry. :-)

and about experience, what does it actually do, besides increase HP? And it a unit evolves, i think the HP procedure should go like this: the old unit has 50% of its health left, then advanced unit would have 50%when it evolves, get it?

and another idea, a unit that salvages parts of other units
