So in the run up to me finally building my new PC I'm going to sell my current one to help finance it. This is the old family PC that I have used after I sold my own PC. I upgraded the RAM and graphics cards so it was usable. So here are the specs, how much do you think I can sell it for?:
Model: Dell 4550
CPU: Intel P4 Northwood @ 2.53 GHz
GPU: ATI 9800 pro 128MB
RAM: Two sticks of Generic 512MB (1GB in total) DDR PC3200
Hard Drive: 60GB Seagate 7200
1x CD/DVD: sony
1x CD-R: Nec
Integrated soundcard
Rest: Generic Dell/Intel parts and case
Edit: Opps, was half asleep when I posted this. Updated the spec. Just got out of an exam

Nada, because your hardware specs lack information.
How MUCH RAM, not the amount of sticks. What type of CPU (P4, Celeron, ...), mainboard, soundcard (if any), harddisks, CD/DVD/burner, etcetera, etcetera...
$150-250 at max I'd say, if you're lucky.

Dell?
You'll have to pay somebody.
Actually, I estimate around where AF did.

What was my estimate? =s

I was hoping that you would get the post in before I did.
$100 to $150 with no additional data. Possibly up to $400 if you have something good in the box, lie about the brand, and include more information.

Make that $350, tops.

Hum yeah. I was thinking in euros, your dollars aren't worth anything. :)

Yeah, keep it to Euros and pounds.
Edit:

Kinda hard considering that 50% of the case is taken up with the Dell logo.

Check the conversion rate between dollars and pounds, and you'll find I'm being rather brutal - if honest.

$350 = £126
Ow, I didn't release that the currency had devalued that much.

A government with no grasp of the intrinsically artificial nature of economics or the logical rules of exchange does tend to do that to a currency.

And yeah, you'd be lucky to find someone willing to buy that if it's a dell.
Simple line of thought.
"It's a dell. Either that mean's its a great machine with no problems (unlikely) or it's got serious issues and no tech support. He's selling it. There must be something wrong with it. I'm not buying it."

A Dell is for life. Anybody stilly enough to buy a desktop prebuilt deserves it as theyre beign ripped off to begin with.
My PC cost me £800.
The same machine from Dell would cost £2000+

Relative: download synergy on your current box (just apt-get synergy) and install windows on the dell. Now you got windows and linux running side by side using the same mouse and keyboard ( you can even copy and paste from one to the other). You get the best of both worlds!
