Where to buy ram

edit: Nevermind. Looks like they stopped gouging very recently - memory I bought not 4 months ago is already less than half the price I paid...
BTW, if anyone wants an expert's opinion on the subject, buy a new computer in early August. This is the best time to buy a computer, right now, but Intel Core 2 CPU prices will drop significantly on the 22nd of July. Give it a week for the savings to trickle down to the customer.
I'd recommend:
Core 2 Duo E6600
Asus motherboard of P5B line if possible. P5B-E of newer than 1.01 manufacturing version is an excellent board. 1.01 has low maximum memory voltage settings, so isn't as ideal.
Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb, don't bother with SLi, it's a waste of money when such powerful cards exist
4 GB Patriot DDR-2 PC6400 RAM
I'd recommend a RAID 1+0 (0+1) array of 4 250 GB hard drives if you've got the money
Zalman 9700 CNPS heatsink
Buy from:
TigerDirect
NCIX
eBay
etc...
You'll spend about $1000 and have the fastest computer of anyone you know. You'll be basically matching what I've got. Expect about 100+ FPS minimum in Spring, with shadows off with virtually any number of TA units onscreen, or 60+ FPS with 650,000+ triangles plus terrain, in my testing.

80 euros is about what I'd spend on a power supply if I was feeling cheap and dangerous.

What happened to your amazing Pentium D 805 caydr? Did you finally see... the obvious?

The obvious, being, a $70 processor that I got with an extra $40 rebate was not as fast as a $200 processor?

Price wasn't the argument, in the other thread I seem to recall you claiming your overclocked 805 could match the performance of the the E6600 even when that itself is overclocked.
Edit: You notice how whenever you bring up your PC spec I pick a fight

I think I'm diseased.

pentium D 805 overclocked from 2.6Ghz -> 4.2Ghz versus core 2 duo e6400 at stock speed of 2.13ghz.
Its much better value for money when your willing to overclock but cant afford the better equipment.
Having said that a core 2 duo is cheap nowadays, I've seen some under £90.
But an 805 will run XP/Vista and its dirt cheap.

Core 2 duo for £56. Will overclock to 3ghz if your motherboard will be able to handle the high fsb. It only has 1mb cache; which does slow it down in most apps; but then not so much (check internet comparisons)

Yeah, that is were I was going to buy from. They have a fantastic forum BTW if you are ever looking for hardware advice. Prices are pretty good too. The E6600 costs £150 including VAT.

Ebuyer are great, they have a habit of boking their memory card orders and sending you two cards instead of 1, which is hardly a fault when you get a free extra card, otherwise they're great.

Again? Woah, they only just did that in april, I didn't know that, thanks caydr. C2D will be a huge bargin, and I might even be able to go for one of the new E6x50s at the those prices. Is the price drop going to happen at the same time in the UK? Looks like I'm going to have to put off the new PC... again.
