New yardmap type

I'd like a new kind of yardmap type, something that allows you to designate areas that cannot be built in, but are not actually occupied.

So for instance, I could do something like the petronas towers, where a certain area is passable.

Something like, for instance:

ooxxoo
ooxxoo

Where "x" means passable, but not buildable. I could build a whole column of these:

ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo
ooxxoo

and, in effect, make a shielded tunnel, for instance.

Or, I could make something like this

Code: Select all

          ooooxxoooo
ooooooooooooooxxoooooooooooooo
ooooooooooooooxxoooooooooooooo
          ooooxxoooo
by laying DT all around it.

Just strictly hypothedical... I'm not thinking about a shielded tunnel unit or something.

The reason why I cannot use "c" or whatever it is, and just have the unit's script say that its construction zone was always open (as in, a factory) is because I might want to use this "x" zone at the same time as the "c" zone on a factory.

In factories, this is very similair to how it should work, units can walk through but the difference is that its flawed, you can build things like turrets in the openings.

already possible. the y yardmap tag is for areas that units can walk over, but as part of the building it cannot be built on. A tag for an area of a building that *can* be built on would be good though

Too baed Spring ignores y on anything except mines.

I've been wishing forever that Spring supports not new yardmap type but merely old TA ones.

Can this be changed?

You can make everything a mine, and just set the value to nearly zero.

not true, it doesnt useit for mines, you can build 100 mines ontop of eachother if they're not set as blocking.

Well, it evidently works then, no?

If ti worked then youd be able to build 1 mine and have allied units walk through it but the same mine would block a second mine built ontop.

Instead the second mine is not blocked and gets built and a 3rd and a 4th etc.
