Robotech for spring

Lots of robotech fans want to have a video game for robotech. But Harmony Gold doesn├óÔé¼Ôäót seem to have the means to deliver to the robotech fans what they want. I was wondering here who would like to have a robotech most for spring. The idea would be pretty strait forward and simple at this point. You would have 3 basic forces to choose from...
1. Human: RDF, REF, Southeren cross
2. Robotech masters/ Zentradie
3. Invid
Based on what I have seen of spring it would handle a war on the scale of robotech. I don├óÔé¼Ôäót think tech levels would be a problem either. There is more then enough tech in roboteh to have 3 levels. The other thing is that all of the robotech forces would play differently from each other. Its also a theme that many people can relate to with seems to be a propblem with some mods not be able to hold there ground.
So give me your thoughts guys and tell me what you think.

it has been suggested, there is no point to it, there is a macross mod for homeworld that does a better job then spring ever shall.

I know about the macross mod for home world and it not the same thing as what I am talking about for spring. Besides that robotech and macross are too different thing all together. Just about everything in macross equals out to a tech level 1 in robotech. A side form that robotech forces are vastly deffent from macross forces.
The i guess i should as you what was the point fo you doing your mod. There is an home world gundam mod. I have it and i have yours. both are nice but they are still 2 different thing all together. there is no way i would compare the two.
For one spring can allow you to fight in ground, water, air or space. Homeworld doesn't do that. Second every robotech force is different even from a tech point if you were to advance your self. Using an alpha is completely different from unsing a ajax or veritech of the macross time line. The same goes for the robotech mastes and the zentrandie. Battle pods at level one and biroids at level 2. Not the same thing. Even power armor won't be the same at the deffent levels.
Southen cross has the garland and the REF has the cyclone. Hover tank and battloids vs using destrionds. For those of of you what would like some verity wilt your tech levels in a mod and would like to be have a chance at winning using what ever tech lavel you wou like this would be the kind of game that would do it.
Think of all the types of mech in robotech and what they can do. neither gundam or battletch can offer that in a RTS game.

not saying that it cannot be done, I am saying it will not work out well in spring. I know more about the engine quirks trust me, aircraft are a bit wonky altough, in the next release we can do transformations via lua so that should help your project along.

don't argue about my mod in this thread. I will offer this reply and past that if you want to discuss it reply in my thread. The homeworld gundam mod plays like crap, but the project I started is ground battle which is a whole other focus. It also looks silly seeing mechs floating around like gnats as that is not how a mobile suit moves.

Macross goes way past robotech tech, several series in fact but that is another story. The point was that that macros/southern cross etc that make up robotech has been suggested before, but it was often times dropped as a notion after the person wanting to start the project realized the limitations of this engine and looked hard at what a macross project needed, let alone robotech.

Mark Hamil would make an excellent voice acting choice if ever a Robotech faction were added to the Gundam mod.

Hey, I fully support a Robotech mod. Just go along with it, and understand that there are, as always, some engine based limits and you will have to make concessions for gameplay.

see unfortunately in this situation the engine limitations make the KEY aspect of robotech impossible and thusly this mod impossible. The KEY feature of robotech is the "robotechnology" which means the veritechs, SDF.. etc.. IT IS not possible in spring, not even with LUA I dont think though maybe not sure.. to have a unit transform from an aircraft to a ground unit, you cannot do it, these are 2 totally different movement types.. the only way I think you could do it with LUA would be to morph the unit into a aircraft/vice versus however how well that would work I dont know.. Additionally there is no way to make drunken guided missiles, which is another key aspect of robotech..

Speaking of which, I think there was a nice robotech/macross mod for ZH which had all of it. Okay no transformations, the planes would hover with their legs out and visually transform back to a plane when moving but the drunken guided missiles were there.

DONT MENTION THAT SMOTH MIGHT KILL YOU!!!
Eh apparently (according to the smoth almighty) that mod is made of more fail than Seed and Wing combined to form Sewing..

I think that with trepan's morph lua script you could have two different units, one that is an aircraft and the other that is the humanoid mech type unit. Then you'd morph between the two.
I'm not sure if you can call a cob function from lua, but if you can you could have the unit "transform" to some "in between" / neutral state, which the other model starts at which would make the transition look nice and smooth.
(I think you could use the same trick to have a construction yard that becomes a plane and then back again, ala whats-it-craft.)

I think one time someone made a good drunken guided missiles weapon and demonstrated it... so I don't see that as a problem... and unit morphing should be possible when the next release is out from what I remember about synced unit lua.

I think What'sit Craft is probably do-able almost fully with lua now.

alright congrats we might be able to pull this off in LUA, 1 how are you going to balance it, where is it going to take place?? and what all is are we going to do..
you cant have a zentradi/rdf/southern cross/masters/invid/mars division cross fight, because according to robotech, the RDF is the Southern Cross, Macross, and the Mars division, Additionally the Zentraedi are subserviant to the Robotech Masters at least until the rebel towards the end of the macross saga at which point the rebel Zentraedi become part of the RDF, so essentially you can only have the RDF (for what ever series) The Masters/Zentraedi and the Invid..
Then there is the fact that both Southern Cross and New Generation (mospeada) take place almost entirely on the ground with very minimal space combat, whereas Macross Saga takes place almost entirely in space. So If you have a multi series tangle how are ya gonna set it up..

That's it I guess... was it macross vs. toy gundams? I think it was... probably know why smoth hates it.
