Does loopbackattack make the units immelmann before flying over the target or after?
Also we'd need a capitalship behaviour for planes, Freespace capital ships tend to turn their side to each other and circle (bad idea for a Sathanas, though).

Okay, loopbackattack turns them before passing the target but is only used against ground targets. We need a capitalship=1 tag for marking something as "huge, don't try to fly by".

The battlestar galactica maneuvers itself so its top is facing the enemy then fires its weapons.
Lua movement routines and lua physics. I'm not talking about getting rid of unit movement and emulating ti via lua. Ask trepan about it.

Have you people heard of this game called I think it was... home.. home somthing.. wait.. Homeworld.. that was it, no wait it was the 2nd one.. wait yeah.. Im pretty sure this homeworld game had actual 3d space combat with subsystems, and fighter groups and such, I could be wrong, wait I even think there was a freespace mod for it too..
I mean we could do that, or a spring version which would be flat.. and ruin freespace for everyone..

The only flat thing that could be bounding in spring is the blockingmap. Any half decent space mod would abandon the metalmap + mex system entirely, especially with the tools available.
After which the main obstacle is the placement of units and buildings in space, not because of the 3D problem but because units dont go around eachother, they push eachother out of the way. That is the only issue stopping a full lua based homeworld 2 replica from being a possibility.

Already done, sitting on my hard drive collecting fragmented data. Best RTS ever, 13,000 unique units, just need proper hitboxes. >_>

lack of interest.
Spring + space doesnt work well for many reasons. Many of which I outlined in my space map threads, some due to lua and the need for the things it can do, some because of TA::FFs legacy.
No space mod can seriously expect to get off the ground in any realistic way if they rely on metal extractors, or ground for building.
