Are there any other famous systems of RPG beyond Dungeons&Dragons and the world of White Wolf (Vampire: the Masquerade, Hunters, Mage, etc)?
Anyway, about D&D and RPGers geekness, check out one of my favourite episodes of one of my favourite cartoons, Dexter's Laboratory:

I never really understood these rules systems. It's always possible to just hang out with friends and just make your own rules and stuff on the fly. It's all about imagination after all, why constrain it with werid rules?

Most people are socialized to lose that flexibility, sadly.

Says someone posting on a forum for a video game. You sir, are a failure.

*scribble* Forum troll appears out of nowhere and attacks BlackLiger's pride.
Instead why don't you tell us what this is about as some people (including me) don't really have much of a clue.

There are degrees in nerditude. From the top of my head:
console < computer video game < trading card games < pen and paper RPG < LARP < furry LARP
Each level mocks every following levels.

I may, some day, go as high as LARP. I almost joined the SCA, and I'm not ashamed.

Heh, there's a guy at my school who gets really angry whenever you refer to SCA as LARPing.
So I make sure to do it at every opportunity.
