Alright... Poly count, I can't give very many specific hints, but that screw and the smoothed cannons HAVE to go... You could easily make this with 200 tris (Triangulated polygons) at most. In Spring, most 6 sided cylinders will look round. Look up some decent Wings tutorials first, tutorials helped me and they will certainly help you. They would help anyone.

If you are new to the whole developing and modding side of things ( I was) then you should take a day or two and find out what all the words mean.

New to wings? Go look up tutorials, I don't want to be mean, but I do want to be stern. Find out what all the keys and everything do, and most likely, you will want it in advanced menus mode or whatever it is.

I would advise modelling some existing things, in whatever universe you like, be it a Sherman Tank, a porsche, the Enterprise, an ATAT, whatever. Something that has plenty of reference material. See if you can keep whatever that is under 1000 faces.

Once you sort of get the hang of doing that, then you should move into designing your own stuff. It's really hard to design your own stuff AND be new to modelling, because you just can't create what's in your head well enough yet. Get those fundamentals down, then move onto creating your own designs.

Since you are brand new to modeling, another trick is when you come up with a good idea on how to do something, say, model a tiedown in 2 steps vs. 14.... write it down, take notes... even if you never read the notes again, just doing the task, seeing the task, completing the task, then writing the task down, your brain will NEVER forget how to accomplish it.

ever.

and frankly, after you write about 20 pages of neat tricks you've figured out... you'll be ALOT faster at modeling, more efficient, and never get stuck trying to get some bizzare idea out with little trouble, trust me.

If this thing had a proper handle it'd be the tool of choice to stab someone's eyes out!
