Anime: death note, code geass (minor ep 1 spoilers of each)

Watch death note no matter what, code geass is also interesting.

DN follows the story of an individual who gains the ability to easily kill anyone, anywhere, at will - as long as two conditions are met. The show is very deep and clever, with brilliant writing.

CG follows the story of an individual who gains the ability to force anyone to follow his command. He uses this power to wage an armed rebellion against the Britainnian empire, an alternate reality British empire which crushed the american revolution, and now dominates over a third of the globe, including Japan. The show has an equal focus on action and DN-style plotting, cloak-and-dagger stuff for lack of a better description.

Some of the best TV I've seen... sorry, the ONLY good TV I've sen outside of BSG and a few other favourites.

Where to obtain? I would not recommend downloading them. That would be far from moral and possibly even illegal. By all means, do not support sites such as mininova.org, which hosts rather high quality fansubs from dark-subs/kuro-hana and gg respectively for these two shows. They're dirty, dirty outlaws and must be caught and subdued. For great justice.

Yeah, those are two great series. Another very good series you might like is Monster.

Also, cydar fansubbing is considered a grey area. Although fansubbing is illegal in the strictest sense, the creators and distributors are tolerant of fansubbing for a number of reasons. Firstly, fansubs can build a fanbase and popularise shows for when they are licensed. Fansubs are also somewhat a large, free focus group for distributors to judge the success of future licenses. There is an understanding between fansubbers and their viewers with distributors. Fansubbers generally remove content once the license as been made official, and often encourage they viewership to purchase or watch the newly licensed and translated products. The negative effects of fansubbing are generally nominal relative to their benefits, and distributors recognise this.

I was thining about whether CG would make a good Spring mod (since, you know, it's about how his strategy is superior) but I don't think it'd work, too few units (I mean, you get what, the Sutherland everyone has, the black mech of the rebellion and the hero units, Lancelot, Guren, "Anubis" and Cornelia's lance squad). Even if, it'd probably just end up playing like Gundam, especially if you add the hugeass command cruiser of the Empire. If there were more loadout options for each chassis it might work (after all Gundam has very few different units, most are loadout versions) but there aren't.

Both pretty good, Death Note had started to become more about suspense and less about story as the series has come on... All well and fine if they reveal anything interesting about the story...

Monster, yes, I've recently obtained that series. I'm, uh, ... learning japanese.... yes, that's it. Because fansubbing is evil. Nobody look for the large Monster compilation on Isohunt.

Spoiler:

Who else thinks that high-ranking guy who was wounded, just after the arena massacre near the end, has been programmed to kill cornelia?

Heroes vs. spam... well there can't be enough mecha anime mods^H^H^H^Hgames for spring so I think this is a good idea.

Death Note...the only thing about it I have seen is "Desu Note", where a really fat kid gets a notebook and if he writes someones name in the notebook, they become...FAT!

Desu apparently means "Fat" in Japanese. I think.

PS: I have been re-watching Cowboy Bebop. Now THAT is a good show. Great music too. Really good english dub as well. And as we all know, that almost never happens.

PPS: The apostrophie button keeps opening the find function, so I am not going to have any contractions in this post. It is getting really annying.

It's not really heroes vs. spam, the Empire has one unit in huge quantities, one limited to an elite squad (the purple ones with lances), a hero (lancelot), a command vehicle and an epic com, perhaps a crappy old tank and a crappy APC but those are really rare and only serve as cannon fodder. The Rebellion has the Empire's crap mech, their own "redshirt" mech that outperforms the Empire's, the rabbit-ear mechs with the chainsaw swords (elite squad), the maglev cannon, the Guren Mk. II which is on equal footing with the Lancelot, if not better, the "Anubis" that would count as an epic com but is piloted by a noob (An00bis), some Wirbelwind defense towers and infantry with RPGs and rifles plus (if you want it separate) Zero's pimped redshirt mech.

Of course I'm mixing the Black Knights and JLF here but they do merge after all.

CG isn't good subject matter for a mod, it's almost exclusively dedicated to storytelling and character drama.

Why not, it has enough different giant robots in it and lots characters for hero units.

Am I the only one who wanted Sak-whatwashisnameagain (pilot of lancelot) to die ASAP? Man I hate these goody good for nothing goods type of characters with a passion... on the other hand Lulu is about the same annoying.

Are there release dates for ep. 24-26 yet?

It has only 25 Eps AFAIK.

There's a second season alledgedly in the works, that may increase the number of units.

Also EVERY non-super mech anime has drama and loads of it. What people make games about is the cool parts, i.e. blowing up other mechs, not the drama. Well, except for NGE, there's at least a dozen "interactive novels" out for that and I'd wager half of them have nothing to do with the main plot ("Detective Evangelion"???).

lol

I generally watch mecha anime for the cool stuff anyway, the drama will keep you watching, though.
Hmm second season? I expected it to end...
