Spring RTS Engine

What is your favourite unit from any RTS past or present, and why?

Mine is tanya from RA2, i was still young when that title came out and it struck me for some reason and now it is still affecting me

Netherfeind from the little known game Sacrfice. It's like a gymnest crossed with a zergling crossed with a carnifex. And it sucks people's souls out through their noses. How cool is that?

My namesake, from C&C Generals: Zero Hour.

Oooh, that's a hard question. I think the Doomsday Cannon from Stratosphere would qualify. Nothing like sniping the enemy base before it can even fly into range.

Oh and definitely Perimeter's Disintegrator. Making enemy units fall apart into their nanobots is fun. Even moreso if you come in with a few laser planes to mop them up.

Generals ZH had the Aurora Alpha which was win when you had it but fucking evil if the other guy did. I wonder whose idea it was to make a bomber that's practically invincible before it drops the bomb carry the most powerful weapon a unit can have.

Gundams are fun as well, especially if your opponent focusses on Zaku spam.

Red Alert's Tesla Coils.

This is a tough one. Although I was never terribly good with him.




The crypt lord of warcraft III always was a favorite.


The way I could toss a whole wave of enemies into the air with his special and his swarm attack are great! Combined with the fantastic model and cool looks he is my fav.

I really like the Pyro. Awesome rushing unit, packed with a flamethrower for massive damage dealing.

Arclight from Final Frontier for OTA.

Either the Siege Tank or the starcraft Nuke.

So many memories.

The third-party unit, the Praetorian, for OTA. I loved how he shot the peewee machine-gun ammo out his mouth in all directions

The armory from Battlezone. It's a giant catapult you use to deploy upgrades and ammo to your troops.

Or the light tank from Z.

Planescape, Dhaakon and his Blade made of Chaosmater.. a Weapon as sharp as a thought, so if you are bright, this thing will cut through the Planes... oh RTS ?... so not the Speed and Sniperlaser-couguar.. - does the Shamane in Popolous 3 count ? Not... a then - how about a Syndicate Agent ? Not pure RTS- okay.. how about the Chickens in Dungeon Keeper ? One Click one Kill - and they supplied all other Units.. well i guess i liked the RazoberbladeTanks in DarkReign - they sucked but the Idea is pretty cool..
