At last! TA3D v0.3.1. officially released!

New version of TA3D released! :)

What is it?
TA3D is an attempt to bring TA into the world of true 3D, it is being developed by those who love to still play TA.

Our main goal is full compatibility with original TA resources and mods. It would be nice to re-play TA campaign in 3D!

Windows version:

Just put your favourite map or unit (or full MOD!) from TA in TA3D install folder and play in full 3D.

It`s yet much things to do, but now you can play with stupid AI which spawn different units and send them to attack player.
Any suggestions and help are wellcome! If you find any bug please visit our forum at "ta3d.gpserver1.com". We`ll try to fix it as soon as possible.

Install order:
In Windows:
1. Just run the installer and chose new folder (c:/ta3d/ for example).
2. Insert TA Cd-ROm in your CD-drive and run install.bat (it will copy totala1.hpi and totala2.hpi from CD to your /ta3d/ folder).
3. Run ta3d.exe and play!

Step "2" can be done manually.

For more info for Win and Linux users - check ta3d/doc/ folder after installation.

Yes, there are aufull pathfinding (we leave it for 0.3.2.), and no true AI, but it is working version, so if there are anybody who`d like to help us with anything - plz. visit our forum.

... may I suspect that you are not aware regarding what "l" and ";" keys in Spring do? (LOS/Radar coverage display mode)

GMN is talking about the fact that it is dark in the areas not seen by LOS....

tried it, but the ai doesnt seem to be working at all. Coms are just standing there.

The video you posted is not very informative. Can you move the camera beyond verticle zoom?

I for one am pretty interested in this project, my install disk for TA has a fairly large crack in it, so i wont be able to play it (for now at least), but i would, for example, love to see what the talon look like in 3d.

I have to say, I'm impressed - it looks much more faithful to OTA than Spring is, both in gameplay/UI and stylistically (like having the old, ugly bitmap explosion)...

That being said, those lasers are butt-ugly.

Yes, there are many things should be done, i.e. pathfinding, AI, visual improvment, multiplayer support. All this should be done for 0.3.2.

It`s just early stage yet.

To play ta3d you`ll need only totala1.hpi and any map (*.ufo or *.hpi).

I wish we had a function like that for lasers, a beam that was like both beamweapon and beamlaser...

Or maybe he means that (and I aggree with him on this) the "L" in spring is currently a little bit toxic-bright-green, and a mode that shades stuff other than what you can see, like most games, would be nice.

Exactly.

Okay the pathfinding is indeed horrible. It takes ages to move units around on a hilly map because they stop most of the time. Sometimes they get stuck even.

You can get rid of the green, which is radar, by pressing a button who's name keeps eluding me. It was like...shift L or something. I'll have to check.

So what can this TA 3d do that Spring can't? If it can managed just TA, then to me it seems a little...limited compared to Spring, which seems to be more flexible.

Well I always saw Spring as becoming a large modding platform, more of it's own engine than just a TA off shoot.
