Yan, how many games of EE have you played? Unless you are some kind of monster, I doubt it is more than Forb or Fang or Neddie. Why don't you just take their advice? At the most you can just say "ok" and curse them away from here.

Yan, I've been asked to tell you to stop trolling the thread. I will be issuing warnings if you continue.

Then you can plug your ears and go "la-la-la," but yeah, the new models have more aesthetic differentiation between weapon loadouts

fang by the way...i think the base of the tanks are too flat.. i think that if the would be higher it would look much better..

That thing is very flat as well but it's short and seems to have a large turret that makes the base look larger. Tanks are engineered to be as flat as possible so they can use cover more easily.

well i dont know... but the new models although good looking dont look fearsome..
they need to be changed a bit so they look more serious..
i think playing with proportions is the key here

The new models were copied exactly off of a M1 Abrams.. as were the dimensions.. I am not changing them, I like the way it looks..

note the flatness

Well if it is a matter of taste...
but still they really dont look mean enough..
maybe a slight change in texture... to make em look more urban

Why urban? Very few maps are urban warfare in Spring.

I think GD look pretty great.

It would be nice ifthere were a way to give multiple skins for different enviroments... with different camo for each...

Posted: 13 Sep 2006, 17:17
by FizWizz
aye. Mechwarrior 4 has something similar, where each mech can be skinned with any camo, but also has 'permanent' texturing that gets layed on top of the camo. They probably do it by having two UVmaps for each model. It would require a new model format *or* big changes to .s3o to get something like that in Spring though.

[edit]@ KRD_11K: yeah, my idea sounds a little dumb to me after reading it again. There isn't really a reason why it couldn't be done with a single UV map.

Posted: 13 Sep 2006, 18:01
by KDR_11k
Really? I think it's done by using the same UVs for both.

Yan how is the look of the Merkava less flat? its chassis has a 10-20 degree slope on the front armor then its flat straight back. The Abrams chassis actually varies more with a 5-15 degre front slope which flattens out long enough for the turret to connect with the chassis. It then slopes up and flattens over the engine. Also tanks are designed to look agressive they are designed with functionality in mind. Whether that functionality is speed, reflection of enemy shells, manuverability or many other factors. The reason jets look "agressive is accidental. Thats just the way they turned out.

I havent heard anhy of u say anything negative about anything in ee ...
which means ur all very primitive people..
the game is not perfect.. not in design nor in gameplay...
i think gd do look a bit toy like.. unfortunatly i cant say what is the reason
for that.. they just do.. maybe its texture maybe model.. i dont know..
no need to renodel all.. i think that a change in texture wil help a lot..
maybe making the hull a bit more complex ith things coming out of it.. like
fuel tank or whatever.
anyways if ull all just say everything is perfect it wont improve..
and there is always something that needs to be improved.
i dont think that fang even though he had made a very good mod can think of all innovations or changes needed.
maybe if u would say something whenu saw the first new model
it would have been even better..

I haven't said anything negative about you either. Since I don't want to be primitive I hereby call you a retard. Happy?

The fuel tank is deeply embedded in the armor since it's volatile. Unless the fluff has the tanks using nuclear power anyway but that wouldn't protude the armor, either. These designs are based on real world battle tanks.
