That's how awesome DF is: you can have 200 dwarves worshipping a shoe.
Make that 340 dwarves.
This engraving showed up in my newer fortress, still in the same world:

Bocash Fotthor, "The Ruthlessness of Forests"
Engraved on the wall is a masterfully designed image of Mansionbulbous the Purple Extrication the Steel shoe by Zuntîr Ralthosbut.

How god damned awesome is that.

Also, I suffered a major military defeat today. I just barely managed to repel a massive goblin siege. About 20 wrestlers died, many more wounded. The army was quite popular in my fortress, going to every party and all, so now half the fort is complaining about losing a friend to tragedy. A herbalist has gone stark raving mad, and a fish cleaner and a furnace operator are constantly throwing tantrums.

I believe the golden age of Ballwhipped is over.

I bring two cats and like somewhere between two-four cages, and put one cat inside ASAP, preferably female.

You mean so you can control their breeding?

yah. caged females don't give birth. also, all freshly born kittens go straight to the butcher's. immigrants with cats go to the Dwarven Atom Smasher, so the cats can get butchered.

brutal truth of the dorfs: cat is fine, in singular ;p

Why dont you just cage the migrant cats and then lock then away in some hellhole? Also, im curious about the nature of this dwarf atom smasher :)

Its a drawbridge. Anything thats under it while it 'falls' is instantly GONE..forever...Its hardcoded I think just becuase of how layers work.

And I do mean ANYTHING.

Yes, and it has been. You have to be careful though, if you use the atom smasher to end seiges all the weapons and armor the dead dudes would drop are destroyed as well.

Note to self: Military squads are to be kept in complete isolation from the fort and each other, members ripped away from the fresh migrant flow to avoid attachment. Also install flood piping to each squad's barracks.

Your dwarves will eventually slow down and stop working completly if you dont supply then with alcohol, so I reccomend you dont even bother getting an water supply... to tell you the truth, getting alcohol is easier than getting water :)

To have alcohol just make a still (workshop) and tell a dwarf to be a brewer, then you can brew plants into drinks, what does not destroys the seeds... you will need barrels to store the drinks tough.

flooding the world with water(OR LAVA!!!) used to be easier than making alcohol

This is true, but I still recommend a water supply so you have breathing room if you screw something up. Cooking alcohol is always incredibly profitable, and you can cook/drink faster then you can often brew.

I bet any dwarf, not matter how many limbs missing, could cross the world if it was to get some alcohol :)
