spring has functional graphics. not the best on the market, btu they work well with the game. supcoms graphics for example, cant be seen at the same time as playing the game as all action takes place so zoomed out you only have icons. spring is amature stuff but its well excecuted.

i just played spring again and i thought WTF i can t see my units they are so small!
i felt so lost and stopped playing.
icons are much better because you have more control over the map.
i still don t understand why some people bash supcom...
maybe because they can t play it or they don t want to learn different gameplay....
ta was same shit 10 years ago, you had to give it a try and then you loved it!

What.
SupCom's units being too small and the icon view being horrible to select from is my main complaint with it, with the lack of unit diversity probably being the only other thing that bothers me a lot.

ok first, there is no need to ever zoom out much in spring, most the action requires micromanagement. if you DO decide you need to zoom out, all the mods now support ICONS just like supcom for those with an ascii fetish.
if you felt so lost at the sight of your units from a zoomed out perspective, then maybe a move to supcom is for the best.
oh, and people bash supcom because it was balanced by an idiot and is suprisingly dull to play.

tombom that was how OTA was. Remember BA and XTA have OTA units + patch units + extra cavedog units for download + Core contingency units + modder made units
Remember when OTA came out there was no sumo, moho metal makers, decoy commanders, cloakable fusions, buzzsaws, mobile anti nuke, pelicans, vipers, morties, krogoths, hovercraft, mines, etc.
Supcom is brand new, there's very good chance the number of units will double over the next 4 years, with extra units in each major patch. Heck the latest supcom patch added a new minimalist GUI to the list of GUI's available.

Yeah, I realise they were most likely setting themselves up for an expansion and possibly free units for download. My point still stands that having two units available at T3 is kind of dull.

Indeed, even OTA had more unit variety even if you take only one out of the two ground pathes (kbot, veh).

wikis are crap anyway but the spring one is so annoyingly hard to navigate.
hey!
i am quite new to spring and the wiki was helpin me very much.
also the site's layout is very good i think!
my experiences with Spring are quite strange:
This is a very good game as it is. The UI is simple, clean and functionable.
I thought "this must be one great community with lots of good working people"... what i see is many people complaining! come on this game is great!
just my experiences though....
bye

I'm working on the Wiki, once I have Photoshop, I'm going to apply some veneer.
