Let's call it women's libber tower...

Those red things are lightnings that move/swarm around.
The upper/middle things, with several "cannons" distributed around the perimeter, rotates fast.
When closing, the bottom part has it's spikes turn up, the middle ball goes down into the bottom part, the cannons retract in to the middle and turn either up or down and will go down along with the uper shel. That uper shell will have it's spikes fall into place with the spikes that the botom part now has turned up, when finally closed.
I think such crazy thing would fit NanoBlob's style.

Yeah, but what is that green ball suposed to be?
And I prefer to call my tower "Conular disk launcher" or "Conular disk tower" or "Conular disk launcher tower" or maybe just "Conular"

.

@Das Bruce's gear-gun:
With some changes that would really fit into the lego-mod!
The cannon almost looks like those spring-powered (haha) pirate-guns that can shoot round bricks.
I think Keithius's pop-up hovergun looks best so far. If possible the hovering gun should have thrusters that are hardly able to keep the turret stable so it is wobbling around all the time, that migt look fun.
@PicassoCT
Would the pogobomb work like a mine? Because I dont think its possible to script a jumping-to-target-animation...

It is a
thing! It glows. Wobbles up and down. Rotates. Comes up when tower opens and goes down when tower closes.

Yeah, I'd vote to cut the flying rock part, and instead replace it with techno-greebles suggesting some sort of anti-gravity device... maybe (
er, obviously vaguely, I'm screwing around here) like this mockup? Things like the windows would have to be suggested by the skin, of course

Why don't you use that or isn't that a model?
Anyway I'm kinda running out of ideas so I went by your sketch(?)...

I think that it would be more logic if this green ball was a weapon, lauching smaller green balls or lauching herself and then regenerating. (aparearing another in her place)

How about a Tower that shoots - himself! And then a New Tower is "PopUped" out of the Ground!

How about you stop posting while baked?
An interesting concept indeed :D

mildesign, we can't deform models in spring.

A little test :
A multiple laser popup tower (930tris, without optimisation) .

It should spin around really fast and throw bombs at the enemy! That'd be cooler than just regular old lasers. But otherwize it's a really nice looking thing. Just, as Argh said, MORE GREBLES!

Damn you are your non-use of square faces! Seriously, triangle...izing by hand is the lose.

I tesselate my stuff when I'm done before mirroring/duplicating and after UV mapping usually. Or what are you on about?

You just saved me a lot of effort, thanks.

Here is my second try. Perhaps some sort of semi-levitating concept where the supports hold it in place while some sort of "energy column" holds the weight.

Spring can't do mesh deformations.
