half of the balls are incinerated.... I cannot track the origin though as half of the balls are cycled and the other half goes to the incinerator. It all starts at the lower left.

I think that it's both.

Smoth has been compared to being like Dryden from "Vision of Escaflowne", handsome and having a lot of charisma, and not just by me. It's usually thought of as charismatic by women to tell them things like "pretty things shouldn't make scary faces" (sort of like Dryden) when they're irritated (and actually mean it) which Smoth has said before to me.

The shredder at the lower right makes two balls out of one!

(Also, balls grow out of Agar, but that is counterbalanced by balls destroyed by red laser next to it).
