The solar is a great incremental remodel that's recognizable, but noticeably more elegant than the OTA model.

However, like Saktoth says, all of these deviate in no way design wise from their OTA counterparts.

How about a creative challenge? Design and model something that would function like a solar collector, but would be animated fundamentally differently from both the OTA solar and the Adv solar.

I can give a suggestion (but people will probably shout me down  ): the middle of it is basically coneshaped, and when closed, the panels are all sheathed around the cone, and then they unfold and "unwrap" into a large circular array.

Sortof like this popular "steaming tray" design (except the cone would be where the center rod is):

And when folded:

Didn't runecrafter do a series of funky solars? They didn't suit either the core or the arm designs though, unfortunately.

I think it's reasonably to redesign units, but if they're planning to be used with the other remade units (mr.d's stuff etc), then they still need to be in-line with the aesthetic feel of both TA and Core/Arm.

He means texturing takes time to learn well. And very few people enjoy it/want to spend that time. Rattle is a talented texture, but I can appreciate his sentiment because it's definitely true of me.

If you want to learn to texture, no insult intended, we're more then willing to help you in any way we can. We're just saying it's alot of work and time spent.

I'm not even good at it, I'm average at best... but I know the technical stuff.

Watch all of them, even if they are for 3ds max and rigged characters (mostly)

Hi,
I'm doing some extra _textured_ stuff that I'll post in Wip thread as soon i'll finish it (3days I'm working on it...)

Gonna continue this thread very soon :)

@ Revenge : I'll do creative challenge later =p
Just want to remake original TA units at the moment ^^

@ Swiftspear : ok :)

@ rattle : Thx for the link. I didn't know this one :)

@ bobthedinosaur : Thx =)

Until I continue this stuff, here is a picture of the new design of the energy convertor :

I like the kind of "spikes" :)

well it must jump into the air and shake the energy until the metal falls out

I'll continue this thread tomorrow :)

@ clericvash : Thx =)

cremus that behemoth thing was really awesome

alot of detail it seems (how high poly counts)

and your texture is decent im sure you can improve but that comes with time and practise but not bad at all.

COME WORK FOR CA :]

really impressive overall

Hey, I hope you don't mind, But since saktoth expressed specific want for that energy storage model above the others, I went ahead and tried my hand at texturing it. Its in CA right now.

Would you like me to upload the finalized s3o and texture files for it?

The normals are incorrect

Texturing is getting better.

Can I recommend:

- Reducing the reflectiveness

- making the texture a little darker

- making the energy glow a little more subtle (example)

- adding residual glow/fake bloom to the areas that are glowing

wind generator
the metal storage needs to be taller, and the windgen maybe a bit shorter, but overal, great work

Is CA or any other *A going to implement these models?

when everything is done, i will make a new *a mod , improved annihilation, like ba but with better models

Isn't that one of the points of CA? No need to cloud the *A with more.
