I heard a rumor that #main was supposed to be some sort of child friendly zone.
It doesn't matter if it is or isn't moderated to me but how it is being moderated confuses me.
I see the same people saying the same things getting muted for the same short amount of time. Ultimately you have the same group saying stuff you consider to be unacceptable in #main every day.
Why not perma name/IP mute and send them to #main2?

Hmm, I remember main2 was a channel back in the day when Felix fought with Journier all the time. Didn't it also have spam control disabled?
EDIT: Dammit, who let lurker take control? XD

My problem with the administration, and why I made this post was, I do what I always do, I wasn't banned previously for it, nor even warned that policy was changed. I am fine with any way that it goes, as long as admins all ban for the same amount of time for the same reasons, and that the rules are made clear to the players. Unwritten rules and seemingly pointless bans is unfair. Bans should never be going above an hour for a first offense, and if you think a player is doing something wrong, tell them, and they'll either stop, or "ask for the ban". I had no idea that cursing was bannable in #main, and even then, I didn't even overuse it like I've seen gone unpunished. The point is, bans need to be fair and equal, you can't have cursing a 10 minute ban for one moderator, and a 6 hour ban for another moderator. It's unfair, and if newer players see the disorganization, or getting banned first-hand with no explanation of the rules to them, they'll leave.

Yeah, I'd definitely leave an extremely awesome open-source project if I swore/trolled/harassed constantly and was then punished in a different way than the previous person.

Let me itroduce you all to oure New Admin - Mr.Dice.
He is online from 6D3 from 2D20 and from 4D2. He will kick you, if you raise your Head, or anyhting else. I recommend joining anygame going on- because Dice is one of those seeing MainonlyPeople as Danger in Approach, firefighting the Terror while you still talk about daisys, eliminating it long before it´s starting to step into existance.

You agree not to use any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws.
= legalese for "shut up, you!" :D
Jokes aside, I do think it is not good to go with the lowest common denominator (or "USA" standards) for moderation. It makes more sense to moderate on heavy personal attacks, racism etc. than on swearing.

To a limited degree we moderate vulgar content... To a strong degree with moderate conflict and controversial topics of discussion. #main especially, and to a lower degree, the forums, are supposed to be community resources. They cater to everyone as much as possible, the only people discriminated against are those who are socially incapable of handling themselves. Because those resources are the public face of the project they are held in the most acceptable way possible.
There are lots of places you can go to dick around, even on the spring lobby server there are lots of unmoderated channels (the vast majority). We just ask you to behave in the places we try to keep as public resources.
