not sure if this is the right thread, but suggestion for post-076b1 installer:
could you please stop overwriting ctrlpanel.txt
or make it an option or something
i'm testing SVN and i keep losing my customised layout.
thank you.

Which ctrlpanel.txt is it overwriting? It shouldn't overwrite those files as it has a detection to see if they are already present or not.

sorry i was just coming back to clarify!
i meant
LuaUI\ctrlpanel.txt
this is the one that matters (to me, to most people i guess)

Okay I'll write a patch to fix that in the next installer version.

I think the whole "LuaUI" folder should not be overwritten while reinstalling the game.
If we install new versions of some widgets, the installer overwrites them with older versions (i.e. "unit_customformations.lua"). Also some people modify original lua files, like "layout.lua".

yes i agree with lupus, please can you not overwrite widgets either. maybe have like a checkbox "reset luaui files" default off?

Well that's not happening, as devs need to be able to change core luaUI files and included widgets in future versions. 3rd party widgets don't get overwritten already, unless an engine version of the widget comes along.

I would say this is not an installer bug but a widget bug and the maintainer of the widget needs to rename the widget files and tell spring to disable the default widget.

why can't we just install a mod or a map pack with the installer ?

I could change that but it would make it less noob proof.

you can make it noob proof if you pop up notification "YOU CANT PLAY THIS GAME WITHOUT THIS CONTENT"

or you can allow people to uncheck it if they already have spring installed

I'll see if that is a compile time or a runtime thing. It's probably runtime because I set whether or not stuff is checked based on the contents of the spring folder.

the installer still does not download maps and mods. will this be fixed only when a new spring version comes out?

The installer mirrors are up but the redirection script seems to be down...no wonder nobody new has the ota content lately.

Yeah I just realized this. Have been so busy that I forgot that fnordia probably didn't think to move the installer redirect back to clan-sy after the move and my IP changed after some thunderstorm induced downtime. I apologize for the inconvenience.
