is there any sites that have the programme dwarf fortress that do not link you to the original site itself? so you can download the programme for that site?

Why would you want to do that?

No reason NOT to answer I suppose... even though I have no idea why one would ask...

This game is cool and I've only played for like an hour and a half.

This thread has been stickied for how many months, and Snipawolf finally got around to it...?

Good luck to everyone who tries to learn it. I conquered DF back in the final days of the 2D versions. Good times. What got me hooked was the sheer cynical violence. Don't see that degree of (unfortunate) realism much elsewhere.

New version should be out in 1-2 more days. Bug count till next release is down to 4. 4! So close...

It will get even better then you start to actually understand what you are doing :)

Wait until .39b, there's a fortress mode breaking bug in this version.

Read through the release post, seems like lot's of people are experiencing bugs (dwarfs sleeping and never waking up, food rotting too fast etc.) so I'll be holding off for a bugfix release.

It's an alpha. If you care about DF, please play it regardless of the bugs to bug hunt. Report any irregularities in the bug report section of the DF forum.

Happy bug hunting all!
(Actually I like buggy DF versions. Weird sh*t happens. It can be really interesting.)

There's nothing interesting about this bug. The dwarves go to sleep, and never, ever wake up. As such, fortress mode is unplayable.

Ought to be a patch tomorrow or the next though.

Everyone has to face death sooner or later. Pretending your Dwarves just 'went to sleep' is only delaying the greiving process...

Na, the game is very clear when someone dies of dehydration because they refused to get out of bed.

Bugfix version is out though, so it should be fixed.

IIRC when dwarves get thirsty, they will stop sleeping and go get a drink. Atleast i've never had a dwarf die of thirst while sleeping

(disregarding those who were injured/imprisoned while the fortress was lacking buckets~~)

it was a bug in 39a, fixed in the quick release next version. The bug caused dwarfs to fall asleep and simply never wake up at all.

i dont know much about programming, but the little I know makes me wonder how this bug came about from a version to other... maybe his finger sliped then he was giving a look on the sleep part? :)
