who would build an aircraft around a giant gun?

The US did it during the war too, actually. There was a variant of the B-25 (the B-25H) that had a 75mm gun mounted on the nose, as well as a load of extra .50 cal MGs.

Ever heard of the
AC-130? It mounts two 20mm Vulcan cannons, one 40mm Bofors cannon, and one 105mm howitzer.
Sticking artillery on a plane is entirely feasible.

*actual testing stuff*
fear caused by artillery is borked. its possible to pin enemy troops indefinately without firing a single explosive shot (so far witnessed it with both german towed guns)

Thank you. Looks like I used a bad piece to check about the status of the fear weapon's ability to fire.

also:
*the russian self propelled gun wont fire (su76? i think)
*i think the russian infantry may have too short a buildtime, the barracks stalls when building riflemen (i will test this further)
*various typographical errors in the cobs (mostly 'invalid piecenum for emit-sfx') in multiple units (seems to affect the british mainly)

Excellent, thank you. The soviet infantry are already fixed, and I'm improving the artillery behavior right now.
Will look into the effects issues with the british.

the AEC armored car has the same fear weapon issues as the german towed artillery, unfortunately my suggestion is to check ALL of the fear weapons

Will do this afternoon. I just fixed all of the artillery though, so that's one set of units that's good to go.

i dont like how an m8 scout car can kill a panther before it can move into its LOS range in a sterile 1v1. i wouldnt have thought an m8 could even chip a heavy tanks paint..

It really shouldn't be, especially if it is far enough away to be out of LOS.

Sure there were no other guns firing on it?

The greyhound's LoS was mistakenly large (1100). It has been reduced to a more sane level (750). That in itself should help solve the issue, but perhaps the 37mm is too potent.

no other units spawned to be firing guns, it was a fair 1v1 with the m8 spawned and then the panther moving towards it starting from outside its LOS. a 37mm shouldnt be able to kill a panther in under a minute anyway, if it made a kill it would probably be from the shell punching through a vision slit, i reckon even the rear armour of a panther would have deflected the shell
also, why are the feet of infantry untextured? whats the point of spending all the time animating infantry so nicely and then having transparent feet :p everytime they dive or run it kind of destroys the illusion of being a 3d object rather than a wireframe. also, 1944 isnt that system hogging, i reckon a higher res face texture for infantry would have been a great idea.
wrecks should give metal so players want to reclaim them and capturing ground yields a reward, to represent salvaging tanks etc
also, should consider giving structures like barracks + HQ some kind of ground decal and making them look more like 3d objects than paper houses, as atm from numerous views you can see the walls are paper thin and if you look through the door of a barracks while it is building you can see right through the opposite wall. i guess this isnt an issue if you play from icons view but youve put so much time into making it look nice in some places, figure you should be consistent elsewhere.

37mm has been nerfed somewhat now too.
Infantry models might be redone again in the future.
barracks and hq do have a ground decal??

If you're going to redo the infantry models, it's probably better to get them done sooner rather then later, because of all the subsequent work that it entails.

Zsinj is blatantly trying to bog you down in work to try and grab back bored staff...
