You, sir, are the voice of a generation. That was beautifully said. =)
Uh, not quite true, that's how troubleshooting actually not works. Not how it works.

I'm sure we can all see what immense good we can do for society by coming up with a name that no gamer can resist the urge to investigate further. Wink

These most recent ideas seem the best, truth be told
I can PDF things just fine on my own... but I hate PDFs. PDFs are dumb. Take an hour to load and force you to install acrobat before you can read anything. Unnecessarily large filesize... meh. I'd rather not...

pdf is fine for printing, because on the paper it'll look just the same as on the screen. this isn't the case with every filetype/software.
for screen-only use it sucks, thats true.
But you can also use the Foxit reader, it displays pdf in < 2 seconds.

If I used "Foxit", that would require a readme stating to use "foxit". Which nobody would read. And then my life would be ruined with spammed whining about my usage of such an irritating format. I might as well save the readme as screencapped BMPs. That way at least everyone would be able to view them...
SwiftSpear wrote:I don't have time to reread stuff every time a new patch is released.
I don't expect anyone to re-read it with every new version by any means. Almost nothing is changed between versions but the version number at the top. Just read it once, take it in, get the sense of it, and you'll probably never have to read it again. Just once...

Foxit reads .pdf, just as the Acrobat thingy, Its not another file-format but a free software to read .pdf's.
(doesn't really make pdf's better suited for readmes though)

People better read my damn readme when it comes out...
It will tell all about units/history/strategies, then the boring updates

Erm, you should call that a manual Snipawolf. I'm pretty sure stuff like units and histories are outside the scope of a readme. Or you could name it using Forbodding's last suggestion.

Usually the readme is the manual for web-distributed stuff.

Manual.txt I would go for
