Looking at the many curves... loads.
The peewee in the movie, that one doesn't look to high poly. (and looks great).
And disciplus, you're modeling skills are awesome!
(much better then mine ^.^')

Its missing its skirt

. It is a great model. I do really like it. It just doesnt come off as Core. Or a Commander. Looks more like an infantry bot to me. But still very nice work.

I am rather hesitant to do texturing for this place. For example my first
submision.. the retextured
slammer(link to the thread) unit has been met with obvious
oposition. To be frank it reminds me of why I do not do work for the TA
community... if it is deviant from what they are used to they cannot acept
it and call it crap.
So honestly I do not want to tollerate the bitching of the community..

-so... minus one texture artist/modeler.

well i liked the texture tbh.. but it does not fit the TA universe imo

smoth i liked it too... really TA is no place for it (right now atleast) but when the look of all the units get more "mature" it might fit better

-1 texture artist/modeler.
I dont think they meant it that way.
Its very very pretty vehicle with excelent texture and so but it doesnt fit the CORE army, and its only that it doesnt mean it isnt very good..
Its like doing a droid for a peewee model just doesnt fit (im exagerating on this example)

thank you guys.
The "low poly" model (without smooth) count 100 000 faces.
If you want, I can upload it on my FTP, but in OBJ format, because I've made it with Maya.
Here is the website of our project (in French sorry...)

you know Smoth, there's a BIG difference between your Arm Commander and that retex of the Core multi-laser tank that you did.
The Arm Commander looks like an Arm Commander, it's a pretty slick texturing job and it fits right in with the Total Annihilation theme and would look perfectly natural in XTA/AA (except for the obvious high poly-count).
The retex of the Core Multilaser tank (for XTA) looked... well it was textured and detailed, but if you threw it into XTA, then it would look like a fugly sack of fugly.
That tank was meant from the outset to be used in XTA, was created with that intent in mind, and at no point of the process did that ever change.

The model with textures.
But i don't think that the OBJ format keep the texture, it's only preserve the UVW.
Maybe you'll have to assign the textures to each pieces of the model.

I spent lot of time in this model, so if you use it don't forget the name of the author

it is that point exactly.
see calling it fucking ugly(fugly) is just an asshole thing to say.... I personally think the texturing does a good job of tracing the curves of the model while maintaining the look of a living machine... which the core are.
My WHOLE problem with your mentality and the mentality of your ilk is that the game HAS to look like OTA. Which was a game made in 1998 that looked ugly even then. NONE, I repeat NONE of the textureing done then was attractive. Even on the origonal models. IF we used the same style we would be LIVING in the 90s and not with the times.... if you people remake XTA to that style of modeling.. shame on you. I think it would show an entire lack of taste and creativity. If the models were redone but with more modern(NOT 1998 cg ART) then it will look better.
However, saying a unit needs to match the OLD ota style is holding us back... fuck that.

Um... I think I'll take another whack at the skin, and we can all go from there. That's all I'm going to say here.

yeah, go for it man. It is apparently unanmous that I aparently have no skill...
Since the texture is not going to be used... here is my UGLY texturing in game... I think the thing that pisses me off the most is that some of the people that are making rude comments about it could not do better.
Again, to who asks me for help, NO. What a damn waist of time.

ah smoth man, you just can't ask from a bunch of ppl who certainly contributed a lot (and I really mean a lot) of time and energy to this and other games, to just say: 'hey ok, we sucked, you're the new kid on the block'. Do whatever you do best, making those units, find some ppl with whom you could make a nice shining mod with and here you go! Don't let us down this fast man

BvDorp, I help alot in the TA community but I am not a huge name, nor do I want to be. So no, I am not a new kid at all. I contribute alot of my time, if you knew people in the mapping circles, the TALON race forum on TAU or even the fact that I have been making mods since 94... I am definitely not a new kid. I have been here on this forum for over a year.
That being said, I am have been working on Gundam Annihilation since december of last year. It is my mod, I will finish it and piss on people who do not like it for no good reason. It is in its beta stage right now. Once I have completed the OTA part... I will begin work on my spring part.
BvDorp, don't worry I am still producing things. I am just going to refuse to help anyone else. Mainly because I have other things to do with my time.
