that is very old and widely known ....

you just ask to both what the other guy would answer to which choice is correct

truth guy thinks -> liar guy would pick wrong choice -> truth guy points to wrong choice

liar guy think -> truth guy would think correct choice -> but liar guy lies and points to the wrong one instead

therefore just pick the choice opposite to the one both indicated...

That puzzle is there to trip up the overthinkers. You aren't limited to one question, so it's very easy to ask basic questions of the three and figure out who is who.

"Do I know you?"

Convince then of that they made you a very tricky question winhout making any questions...
