Guys, the issue of which one is 'better' or not is really up to personal preference, it is really pointless to argue about it.
I personally loved the series right up until Tiberian Sun and RA2, both which I felt was boring despite the now-classic unit designs.
Generals to me was a fun game, and stood out for me because it took a more contemporary and slightly more realistic theme and look. ZH skewed the game balance but its still cool.
C&C 3 really stretches the truly ancient SAGE engine even further, and had some of the most awesome-looking futuristic buildings, props etc. i've ever seen in a game, but the gameplay didn't really do it for me, played it mainly for the campaign and FMVs.

Anyway, point of this thread is to discuss C&C: RA3. I'm more interested in the Japanese faction tbh, wanna see how their mecha designs come out. The most 'fun' faction atm seems to be the Soviets, what's not to like about armored attack-bears?

Yes, I can confirm that the Bullfrog has the ability to deploy parachuting bears (aka ├óÔé¼┼ôbear-a-chutes├óÔé¼┬Ø) from water onto land. It├óÔé¼Ôäós really fun to see and feels very true to the less-than-serious tone of the Red Alert series. The development of this game has been more fun than any of my previous projects thanks to this over-the-top tone and attitude.

Personally I like the diversity and originality of the Comand & Conquer series, tough I dont like the "you can only build near base" thing... And I really liked command & conquer red alert 2... who doesnt likes atomic soldiers that melt people? :) Didnt liked the Generals because I felt the units are too normal and too few...

Parachuting bears shooted out of cannons on ships sound a bit over the edge tough :)

Uhh, RA1?? No way, Tiberian Dawn is the shit (unofficial title of the first and only true CnC :P )! It was the dawn of RTS! Well, dune2 more so, actually. Redalert didn't bring anything new. There has been but one innovative RTS ever since. ~~

Actually, the first RTS as a recognised game was Herzog Zwei

It's more a genre mix and uh, what about the first part? I think it had similar gameplay.

i think the question we should be asking is : how is EA going to screw up this time? oh course theres going to be op units that basically you build allot of and own everybody on the map. also there adding what i think is going to be a op side like scrin in C&C3 which is so called "japan" maybe because japan has a VERY large population you can create suicidal mobs... :P :P .

C&C Tiberium Sun was also kinda strange CAUSE YOU DIDN'T KNOW WTF THEY WHERE TALKING ABOUT IN THE "real" or the split parts that the but between each of there missions. (i forgot what its called god dammit...) of course first you think that you haft to destroy all enemy buildings on the map but in the briefing it says you haft to capture something e.g. tech center but you destroy it and your dead (if you haven't saved it your screwed.)

and last of all...

LONG LIVE WESTWOOD!

First official Gameplay Trailer:
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/34141.html

Honestly it is so busy it is hard to pull much out of it. Did get a couple of things though;

- the Bullfrog unit can launch more than just bears... apparently its an APC of sorts that launches its passengers. (you can see them launch the new tesla troopers)

- Allies again get an aircraft carrier, soviets get a missile dread like the one in RA2

The first bit of info combined with the Sickle walker unit mentioned before really seems to follow SC2's idea of giving units (other than aircraft) and abilities that allow you to circumvent cliffs and their oh so choke-pointy ramps. Which is a good thing, not gonna argue with it.

nice vid , visually it looks similar to SC2 (albeit in different universes and stuff)

and also it comes out on the same as SC2 guess EA are trying to have some direct competition

but imo its a bit dumb red alert 3 has no hope in hell in out selling SC2

i played the beta loads, its fun but its kind of like c&c 3 in terms of porcyness and the epic power of bases and base defences
