A: obessive

B: have other things on my mind...

I have had to make three different uploads for the model and this third one should have all the crap fixed. Sorry about all of this.

here is the latest fixed(I hope) version.

His mother would have been proud!
Morty was my favourite TA unit, you made sure he can survive the next decade. :-)

This model has few similarity with the original. :(
Also I don't like such right arm.
P.S. Hope, I say understandably. In extreme case beat my dictionary.

stop necroing threads :P

its generally agreed smoths morty model is awesome its suposed to look quite different to the original more so than say Mr D's stuff

Its very good dont expect exact carbon copy's of OTA stuff with better textures :/

The OTA morty us one of the most uninteresting designs of all the OTA units (which, while not very complex, are often pretty good). Its just a really boxy guy with a gun-arm.

This is, at least, a less-boxy guy with a gun-arm.

Maybe my opinion is based on the fact of excessive contrast by the side of other Core units. It has unaccustomed design.
So, it's no bad.

Well I don't think the Mortie's design is that bad. It's true that when you see it in perspective it's not that much of a beauty but it works very nice in the top-down view which was the only thing you saw in OTA. There that design of that bot with the long barrel was pretty good imo as it was unique and easily distinguishable. Things like the Can were worse imo but still the Maverick is my all-time "favorite" because I think it really has the most silly design. While the bot itself is fine this whole thing about this pulling the guns and well ... I wouldn't wonder if it would start shouting "Yeeehhaaa!" like that Texan from the Simpsons and shooting in the air while jumping around...

When it comes to smoth's redone morty model I think it's rather good but it has several downsides to my mind. That are design decisions like removing the arm, making either the head too tiny or the body too bulky (depends on which way you look at it), giving the head that "stupid" medieval helmet which together with the extremely cartoonish texture (-> lots of one coloured areas, strong colors, zero weathering, dirt & stuff) somehow gives it too much of an anime touch...

Smoth's is fresh, and thats all that really counts IMO.

Its a good likeness, but I agree that it could be improved.

Honestly I'd rather coax Smoth into doing more models, than critiquing stuff he has already done :-)

If I were to redo the model, this is the one I would go after, but I have my doubts that this is the actual Cavedog model.

Yes, but your bashing of it falls down for these reasons:
1) This model has been out for ages now. I doubt smoth is going to bother changing it now
2) You don't have to include it. Replacing it with another model wouldn't exactly be hard
3) If you don't like it, you can easily make your own...

I don't understand your position. If somebody needs "respects", he can always get them. But if he needs real mark which can help him in perfection of his skills, it's necessary to say all that you think.

Actually, I was trying to get this point across:

The only way you will see you vision of something is by making it yourself. If you ask / get / see someone else doing it (like in this case, making a new morty model), you can't expect it to look exactly how you want it, it's going to look however the guy who made it thinks it should look. There's no 'perfect' model of a morty everyone's going to like. So yes, if you want to see it happen how you want it, you are going to have to do it yourself, there's no real way around it. While I grant that quality / skill does factor in, smoth is an excellent modeller and texturer: he knows his stuff, and thought the morty should look like that. Thus, when he made it, it did. If you want it to look different, don't criticize smoth for it: he's making it how he sees it. Expecting him to make things following your design - especially when he made it last year, before you even registered here - is a bit much, no?
