OH MY GOD NO TEXTURE!

caydr's modeling waisted polies in several areas agorm, for example, the raised panels that are team colored... EXTREMELY pointless waste.

and here is a shineh version... blah blah.

because last time I tried(gem thread) he acted belligerent about it. You cannot tell caydr anything. Hence why I say, he is going to do what he wants anyway.

The whole point of Caydr's post is that optimizing on Spring is a waste of time and effort - like mowing your lawn with scissors. After all, if you can model something that looks decent but takes 2x as many graphics resources as something that takes much longer to model, and the main bottleneck is NOT the rendering (such that your quick and dirty models result in maybe a 1% performance hit in Spring) then optimizing your models is a waste of time.

Now, I'm willing to bet that after texturing, that model will still be ugly. But its poly-wastefulness is neither here nor there.

For fucks sake. I NEVER SAID HIS BLOODY MODDEL WAS WELL OPTAMISED. I NEVER SAID IT WAS BETTER THAN SMOTHS.

There I resorted to swering, thanks. I know that he wasted polies on those side pannels, and somehow everyone entirly missed the point of waht i was atepting to get across, and I've now entierly forgot waht I was trying to say anyway, so franky all get off my back about it.

Had i said
"OMG YOU MUST BE KIDIN LOL1!!1!!!!!11 CAYDRS MODLE IS LOADS BETTER TWATS !11!!! LOL!!11! MORE POLIES FOR TEH WIN!1"
then maybe I would not mind your condersending tone.

And if he realy isnt going to listen, then why did you bother posting in this thread at all! You could have insted just gone on your merry way and ignored it, and wouldn't taht have been better?

I am posting not for caydr's sake. I post for others who need to be aware of what is wrong. Someone else may read the thread and see what I am on about agorm. I do not need to bash caydr, he did a good enough job of making a fool of himself in his last fit. My point of posting is for those who want to know what is the difference between waisted polies and optimal. Caydr posted his tank for comparison and I posted mine in response.

you posted that it is a bash caydr thread, not really, although I was tempted to retaliate after his last spat. I am tired of all the drama people want to see between caydr and I that is what I am cursing about. Now, caydr seems to realize that I don't really have a problem or care enough to hate him. I want it to stay that way as at this point in time I do not care about caydr, bad or good.

As far as saying that he will do what he wants anyway, that is just a fact I am telling you guys before you get all embroiled over changing his mind. I'd rather spend my time texturing this nice morty I am working on.

Yhe, sorry anyway... I'm a bit cranky at the moment. Don't quite know why.

Rather odd thread. I think I shall leave befor I make more a tit of myself.

Personally I find it's not that much work to optimize if you just don't make unnecessary edges in first place. A cleaner model is easier to handle once you UV and texture it.

aGorm needs more booze.

Also, smoth, you are teaching me to model. I don't care WHAT I have to do to get you to do so, but you're teaching me to model! <_<

Lol... if we're competing about how much you can do with how little, I still win:

Caydr, learn to skin! You're wasting your time, if you don't understand that the skin is 90% of the real detail of your models! Especially for those folks who cannot run textures up to 4096, in which case smaller details get obliterated when shadows are running :P If you seriously need pointers or whatever, PM me... no offense meant, or whatever, but that's the biggest issue here- when we start using normalmaps (soon as Trepan's third patch is available and I have time to get my brain wrapped around it, dammit), the extra polygons you're putting in your work will slow down rendering exponentially...

Caydr has an 8800GTX. His FPS is irrelevant. He'd probably need to make units with nurb surfaces polie converted in order to seriously drain it's rendering capabilities.

Aye, even my 8800 GTS has no framerate issues with spring, any mod, maxed out, with around... 200-300 units visible...

Although it does lag somewhat, that's my CPU... need to patch it...

Who needs a human head in a robot? Put a big stell plate and 2 small holes for eyes in its place! :)

The Knith is really cool, altough I cant think of a real reason for it shield to have yellow stripes... :)
