Ok did all that, and the same thing happens. spring-dedicated.exe does nothing.

When I just run it with out a script it does nothing. I don't get the error or anything, so thats the issue.

don't get it at all, any ideas anyone?

bummed..

WinXP, plenty of mem, etc.. what is the build comand for #buildserv maybe i am doing that wrong? I am using

!rebuild branch=0.78.2-branch buildsys=cmake

which I found on a post here, then went to the dedicated sever page, and downloaded the first file, which was some zip file with dedicated sever and a dll in it.

?????

you can't just download any file and expect it to work, you need to spend some brain power to download the correct _version_.

To be honest I am not sure why this has to be so hard, before when I had Springie working, it was simple.

Install spring, install springie (Latest Ver of each). And setup a port so springie could talk and it works.

Now it doesn't.

Code: Select all

{cmake}caiinterface_spring_dedicated_R7133.zip 06-Dec-2008 00:03 937k

Is the only Dedicated server that I can find that will actually give me an error when I run it.

But when I do, I get the Locked/Unlocked Message immed.

I am going to remove everything and start over, hopefully it will be as simple as it was the first time. I don't consider myself a expert but I do think I know whats going on, and this shouldn't be this hard. I know others have it working so we know it works.

I am using some brain power, but it doesn't seem like it's getting me anywhere...

So I shall start over...

No biggie as this machine is only for Spring hosting anyways...But I do want it working, as this is a great game...

Report back later with details.

buildserv will tell you which version it's building, you only have to download the right one. i suggest trying http://planetspring.free.fr/spring/dedi ... 719ad1.zip.

Ok here's where it gets interesting, when I run spring-dedicated.exe at a command prompt I get nothing, no error message nothing.

Is there something I can check on my machine that might be causing the issue?

Also will springie with with spring.exe still? I will give that a go I guess??????

Update : 4:15pm (Central)

Still get no where, when I run it with Spring.exe it at least starts the game but the other machine doesn't ever connect. All port forwarding is correct, the locked/unlocked message is still 1-2 seconds apart so I feel it's not getting a chance to work?? Not sure what causes this, dam this is frustrating...

Code: Select all

[16:12:31] <rpzautohost> please wait, game is about to start
[16:12:32] <rpzautohost> game locked
[16:12:33] <rpzautohost> game unlocked
It used to work...

Code: Select all

{cmake}caiinterface_spring_dedicated_R7133.zip
What does the "caiinterface.." mean in this ver? As this is the only one that will give me an error when rum from the command line with no arguments.?

Any one have any ideas?

All other dedicated's vers give me nothing, and I still get the locked/unlocked message 1-2 seconds apart when I try to host a game with springie?

Could this be a .net issue?

I have
.net Framework 1.1
.net Framework 1.1 hotfix
.net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1

listed in Add/Del programs, I am just guessing now, as nothing changed that I am aware of???

Really would like to make this work, if anyone has suggestions I will try anything.

Licho???

Would it be possible for !smurfs to be re-enabled? Possibly via a web interface if it floods chat too much.

is it not enabled?
Enabled it now..
Note that springie needs gargamel mode enabled to report smurfs to central database.

Sorry if this has already been posted...

I think if a player posts the same message repeatedly (the precise number of times should be specifiable), that player should get auto-kicked and banned from the match (if the person who runs the server chooses to configure it that way).

no offense but:

wow now thats helping me out! thx alot

why do u think is it that ppl keep asking for how to host other mods than the default ones with springie in this thread?

maybe because it is NOT obvious how to do it and beacause springie is not very selfexplaining?

its not surprising that spring has such a tiny community compared to other games if most of the pros refuse to give any help to noobs because they are just too priggish

in #main its the same ppl come there and say "plz help me im noob" and most of the time the answer these ppl who are intrested in spring is "u are a stupid nub" instead of helping them...

this suks

There are enough autohosts. Its not meant for ordinary users. Its meant for experts.
That means for people, who can follow simple instructions in the first post or find some of the recent posts helpfull.

ok i kept trying to use modinfobuilder and it works, have no idea why it works on my comp but not on the eeebox i tried yesterday...

now the next problem shows up: im always synced in any game (yes i have otacontent) except in the games that are hosted by springie

is there a way to fix that ?

plz at least stoop to tell a dumb ordinary user like me where to read it up u 1337 expert

Are you sure you generated modinfo.dat from spring with otacontent?

when i join springieserver its says "Your map differs from the host's one"
when i redownload the map it becomes synced
but whenever i restart springie and join it agin it says "Your map differs from the host's one" agin

i have the modinfobuilder and the 3 ota files in the spring folder and i executed the modinfobuilder.exe

do i have to redl maps everytime i restart springie

or what am i doing wrong ?

now this is strange when i change the map by vote and then change it back to the map before it becomes synced

thats better then redl everytime but still annoying...
