I started already two attempts to replace all trees in CA.
Latest attempt looked like this:

My problem is that 100 of those eat 70% of my FPS :cry:

PS: The shown models have 300-350 triangles.

A lot can probably be done just by editing the textures on the current spring tree models.

what the fuck i hate the current trees because the are WAY TO BIG FOR *A MODS. Commanders are supposed to be epic, pewees are giant mechs that tower over trees.

well then again, current trees may be almost right size, only a little small. I guess i was exagerating ^ up there.

I thought we decided peewees were the size of a 2 story house... and most trees, if uninterrupted, will grow to at least 2 house stories or more... so trees should be about as tall as a peewee or taller depending on species... the trees in Spring tend to resemble "Lodgepole Pines" (or what I like to call "Ugly Trees") which grow from 30-50 feet.

Sadly the picture in the wikipedia article is of a subspecies that actually looks not that bad so I had to find a picture of what they normally look like:

Holy shiat that thing is sexy. Love the rifle. Some of the normals look a little wierd, though, if that shading smoth shot is using them.

Looking at it I'm thinking that the "blade" doesn't make much sense in a robots fighting each other context... maybe if it split and you had jacob's ladder style arcs run up it.

There fine, its the Abient Occlussion in wings that makes it go a tad funny in places (as it doesn't do per pixel shading, it does vertext shading, hence if there are areas without many verts, it can get confused...)

And the Blade makes a lot of sense if you had a large armored bear running at you... :P

Umm... The trees aint the problem, the problem is the scale of TA mods as also the spring as a whole. It's really hard to make anything peewee scaled to look good. A lot of detail gets lost...

@sinbadEV, those are pines that we have numbers in Finland and I will include a lot of those kind of "uglytrees" in my tree set.

aGorm, that's the nicest model I've seen in anything Spring related. The way his back greebles hold tension like he's ever so slightly hunched over, all action pose - amazing.

You still could calculate it with the fancy velocity numbers TA gave by just measuring how much time a unit needs for a certain distance... :wink:

TBH, since it's a sci-fi game set on distant planets in the far future... trees can be whatever we feel like in terms of scale... this is all kinda silly. Make some big, some small, some HUGE like LathanStanley's... make more aGorm trees, whatever...

So, by combining this photo with the screenshot of my previous post, we can deduce the peewee is approximatively as tall as a coke can. This can be used for future reference:

1 peewee = 1 vanilla coke can.
