Simple really, I want to work on and play a mod that is like Warcraft or Battle Realms. No lasers, computers or tanks. Unfortunately due to my skillset I am at the mercy of the visions of the artists and modelers here. So I do what I can to try and promote what I'd like to see (and others would love to see it as well).

It only has the really, really basic stuff though, and there have already been some adjustments. I'm pretty open to suggestions at the moment as well, if you have any.

@ wilbefast: I do have a soft spot for mythology, hence the historic emphasis. I am still trying to figure out what mythical/fantastical creatures to put in, however.

If you want something in, please let me know so I can make a note to include it. If you *really* want something in, model and texture it :wink:

I always say there is one, and only one rule of a sci-fi/fantasy setting. Be internally consistent. Everything else is just details.

also... no orcs/goblins/morlocks/elves? surprised, not outraged though :mrgreen:

anyways. you're welcome to my blue dude, once i fix the model. backpacks/guns can be deleted, and you still end up with 3x melee weapons, a shield, and some armour on the one uvmap.

i will probably make more units like this if theres interest in having them for a fantasy mod; evo is my baby and it takes precedence but its good to break the cycle once in a while (after having made a non-evo unit, i feel like i can make a ton more evo units. refreshed.)

I guess I'd rather see something like a Warcraft than an Age Of Mythology. But it does sound awesome still.

That's no excuse! I have no skills whatsoever and I'm still trying to make a fantasy mod. Well, actually I'm trying to develop some skills so I can make a fantasy mod. I've also offered to help maackey, though given my lack of skills this will probably involve fetching him coffee or something :|

I'd agree though - such a mod needs to be made: that way Spring would have across-the-board appeal to all RTS players (I'd say the market is split 3 ways between sci-fi, historic and fantasy - Spring can corner 1 but what about the other 2?).

Where there's a will there's way (geddit?)!

Well done man! The shoulders look much better now. The proportions still make it look a bit like a dwarf. Give it a full beard and you are ready to rumble. :-) Otherwise try to make the thights a little longer.

I don't think it looks much like a dwarf at all, there isn't enough muscle mass, and while the bones are shorter in the extremities and longer in the core they are no thicker individually. The problem now is the short lower body... or the long upper body. If you shorten the torso you will have stockier forms, though without the classic bone structure to make sense of that... if you elongate the upper and lower leg segments by a fifth or so, you should be much closer to human proportions.

Spherezeus.
Needs a gun and perhaps a few more edits. Will probably carry the gun in a pose similiar to this, if i can script that.

Keep in mind that its going to be using the same texture as all the other spherebots, the fuzzy/blurry/weirdness is just the texture rendering in Wings.

Because your spherezeus would have massively warped the original texture (on the arm, say) while offering little to differentiate it from the warrior.

The Evolva Zeus is ultimately very derivative of the TA glamour renders and should eventually be replaced.

The major reason i reconsidered it though is because in 1faction, zeus is in botlab, not the walker lab, so it being a spherebot actually makes sense now.

... partly because his spherezeus looks like it screws your spherezeus in the butt.

I do worry about overusing the SphereBot template - I already find that the sphercon is difficult to tell from the SAM spherebot if you use a yellowish teamcolor.

He has a dirtier grimier texture, but i ultimately want to edit the con into having square shoulders with a more visible constripe pattern, and a very much larger construction arm claw compared to his other arm (noticable asymetry, possibly even in the shoulders, with no shoulder pad at all on the smaller arm). Possibly a backpack too, to help even more.

The spherejeth still does have differentiation issues, even with the spherebot. Edits to the texture to give them different areas of teamcolour (say spherebots arms are pure teamcolour while the spherejeths pods are pure white, and his back is all teamcoloured) is probably a good idea. Extending the size and length of the rocket pods might also be worth considering.
