why?

I think it's the only option if you really want to replace the models, since having all the models redone at once is unrealistic at this point and using models that are available can only encourage people to make more.
Of course keeping the old models to stay a bit closer to TA would seem a more ba thing to do.

The problem is that it doesn't fit to Arm units. Besides the Bantha I think no Arm unit has such a metallic look while it's pretty common for Core. Arm just has this brownish look...

There is, that lotus thing, check the art and model forum.
I can see the point that units should be consistent- esp considering a lot of s3o's are messy looking and have no contrast when viewed from a distance. However, BA has some really terrible 3rd party models in there, that dont fit the theme or quality of TA units either in geometry or in texturing. Things like the Beamer (just a bucket of haphazardly stuck together cylinders) and the Janus (a pair of cigarettes sticking out of a box). The Adv fusion is another horrendously ugly poorly textured piece of poo, that uses those terrible looking blue splodgey textures that, i believe, are meant to be animated but just look terrible in spring. CA has at least made an effort towards retexuring and replacing these.

+1 to your efforts.

This isn't constructive. Go make your own mod, don't tell modders what work they should and shouldn't be prioritizing-Moderation

Only because NOIZE refuses to do anything about the graphics.
shut the fuck up.
If you want new models and stuff in, please recreate all the core and arm units ingame, making a scramble with some new units some old units and some units that have nothing to do with arm or core visually might be what you want, but the rest of us would rather have consistency than a fucking mess.

A little bug report: You didn't include all of the buildbar widget.. At least the repeat image is missing and I'm not sure if it uses anything else.
You probably didn't notice because it's in your Spring LuaUI directory but you didn't put it into the mod archive..
The other widgets are probably fine.. I don't think they use any other files..

Sleksa, not acceptable. Tone it down or take a break.

effects as in laser impact spikes or sparks, explosions for impact of plasma of stuff like hammer/thud and shiny sloposions for dead units would take very little time to make even from scratch and would make things alot more eyecandy

most XTA models have been remodlled.. just port all of them.. it would not be that hard.

I suggest that we go back to arguing about the usual balance issues. This debate is not going to get anywhere anytime soon.

Nerf flash flash is OP (lulz).
BRING BACK TINY GATOR HITSPHERES.
There, back on topic.

Noize told me, when asking about nabbing XTA fx, he didnt want to import XTA models because the scale and size is quite different, this would obviously have an impact on hitspheres etc, so wouldnt be such a clean cut copy-paste as you may expect.
Also a lot of the xplosions etc recently added to xta have made an impact on performance for people with lower end machines, and given the higher number of units on the field in BA, it may cause quite a big performance hit. Then again, i know _nothing_ about modding so could just be talking out of my arse

Dude, by any real standards the TA units ARE hodge-podge.

I think what mr. D is doing is fantastic. Makes me want to texture the dominator I have sitting around on a hd. Maybe even do another but honestly, it is starting to happen. And that is fabulous.
Now, that asside. The default spring explosion is wasteful for what it is. ESP com explosion. Many of them use awful amount of particles.

Thats true actually, about the com sizes- they dont go underwater in all the situations they would otherwise (Say, SoW), for one.
Aint hard to resize.

well the explosions need reworkign im sure aslong as they dont turn into those lame flash of light explosions from supreme com i like the beefy TA explosions

Is there something wrong with Juggernaut's emp resistance? It should be emp-able, right? I saw a Juggernaut get hit 4 times from 2 emp bombers, but it had absolutely no effect (BA5.

. We had to ban it from our games after that, because it's just stupidly OP if you can't even emp it.
