edit: 995 polys, found a few to kill
999 polys :shock: I barely made it.. :P

Lathan: I'd put the grilles on the texture and possibly add a plane to each fan that is hidden by default and when the fan goes faster than a specific value the fan is hidden and the plane unhidden, the plane would have a motion blurred fan painted on it. Some of the decoration and the underside of the cockpit could get some welded polies so you can give the missiles some more volume, they look like carrots on sticks right now. The yellow part around the base of the wings could be handled by a texture as well.

Well, I made a sort of Pod like air ship :P. It is 172 tris So here it is:

Made this for a mod I'm currently working on... got 584 tris and it's already UV mapped (and textured).

There are some wasted polies because I cut out one half of the entire body before UV mapping it to get texture detail for a little not very significant price...

These wings move in a bird-like motion... trust me they work, it's already scripted and ingame. The only thing which I haven't included yet is to check the ground height to start flapping once it lifts off.

I know I know... I got a little carried away...

The Grilles... nah, I like em, they aren't many polys and frankly, look ALOT better modeled than drawn...

the fans thing... nah, thats just MORE scripting for extra feces for less reality... blah...

the underside of the cockpit.. maybe... but that will only free up ~8 tris or 4 squares, and the wing joints.. free up 32 tris or 16 squares..

thats a total of 20 squares, or 40 tris... not enough to make but about 1 missle out of, I could add maybe, 10 triangles to each missle.. and thats not gonna help them much... and it'll impact the overall image of the plane more.... I was thinking I could just hide the missles under the wings entirely and thus, they get less attention, but when the plane rolls over, loops, or makes hard banked turns, you'll see them still... I dunno, too many options..

Edit: Lathan, you can make cylinders 8 or 6 sides each... Then shove those on the missiles, thats 2 missiles you can make better..

I stripped off the guns because they were just cylinders really was going to have it be a strafing bomber with laser chainguns. heh

Really the model is good for most uses. You only need to add the gun models for whatever purpose you want.

The bottom is flat because I wan't thinking of it showing the bottom. I guess though you could make the bottom pretty and script it to have some really cool spinning moves like spin upside down and pull up hard to reverse direction. I dunno.

I just smoothed a really rough model so if that's what it looks like that's because it is.

If you want me to do changes just pm me.

Count me out for making a model for the compo, I can't find the motivation and GINTA needs IFVs and oil trucks much more than fighters.

I like Diggz, cause it looks like a flying manta ray, and is in general a lot more...different then some of the others put into this compitition.
