well me and deci were talking about this when he posted that, on TS.
I was actually not aware that it was time based, however the principle still applies.
I can see a typemap being useful on an urban map for example, where there are roads everywhere, etc. But, using a typemap for squares on a chessboard? That seems a bit off imo.
Maybe I'm alone here, but I really detest anything messing with my units paths that I set.

Messing with pathfinding sux, especially for this map!
This map could be the Pool map from CS. Small and neat. Allows for dirty gameplay. Nice!

There already is a typemap for the Chess Board. There is Marble, which has a move speed of 1.0, and Wood, which has a move speed of 0.0. Nothing fancy.
I'm going to be releasing version b2 later today, which will have the front row of mexes eliminated, and the back row of mexes probably increased to 1.2-ish output. The hardness will be changed to 10k/1k for Marble/Wood, I'm going to change the detail texture, and I'll probably change the sky color to a uniform dark grey or black.
Features still to come: Chess pieces, and a unique sky.

Is there any chance of releasing it without features first? The features would be neat, I guess, but I think there's more value to this map just as a chess board, no pieces involved.
Just the spiffed up board with the matte detail texture. Sky doesn't matter all that much.
Looking forward to v2 ^^

Argh, I literally *just* attempted to upload version 2 to FU, but for some reason it won't work. I'm going to try again tomorrow, if I can't upload it then, I'll just e-mail it to an admin. The changes have been adjusted since my last post:
version two of the Chess Board.
Significant changes include:
-The mexes have been reduced to a single row for each side, now with an output of ~1.4 for each spot
-Starting positions for 4 players is now supportedas
-The Marble/Wood hardness is now 10000/1000
-New Detail Texture

Someone did a chess map for TA when it came out first. This one looks alot better though.
I'd be interested to see some ones like the
Micro Machines II (scroll to the bottom) map or that map someone made for TA where your start positions were two toilets, and you fought over a bar of soap in the middle. :)

Oh man, I LOVED the Micro Machines map! I'm glad an upgraded version came out, but I guess it's a little too late for me to find out now though =\
About the new detail texture: I had a very nice looking marble texture, but since it applied to the wood as well, it looked as weird as hell, so I don't think I'll be bringing it back unless I completely remove the table. Instead, I've just used a much lighter 'noise' detail texture, which shouldn't interfere very much with the map texture.
