When I feel I'm stomped I usually say something along the lines of "I lose :P" or "I'm stomped, gg" then wait around for a minute and then leave after. The idea is honorable concession, not to rob my opponent of knowing they've won.

Define "When I feel I'm stomped".

I would define "being stomped" as having no construction units remaining, personally.

When I have 3 mex left, no base defence, and min has the entire map and a half on comet catcher I fell stomped. I don't know, it's just a sense that you don't have the slightest chance any more, like when someone controls way more teritory then you, is two tech levels above you, and just destroyed your L2 plant and entire defence line. You know how far into the game you were/are, and how much time you've given them to build up, it doesn't take alot of guesswork to figure out how easily they could finish you off given another 5 minutes. Usually I'd let that 5 minutes go by, but it depends on wether the player is indicating they want to crulely toy with thier prey before they kill it or not.

A few days ago I played 2v2 and after a while my ally had to leave. He gave me his units and I used the stuff of the two of us to wipe out 1 of the enemies. Then I went for the other and did pretty good damage, killed the comm too, many big buildings like annihilators and fusions but I ran out of units. He still had probably enough to build an army. And I was still above the max units limit(due to getting my ally's units) so I couldn't build any. I explained and the opponent guy said: blow up some of your stuff. I didn't, I said: "I declare myself winner" and left.

Should I have stayed and tried to keep attacking at the cost of blowing up what I inherited from my ally?

Yes... you quit you lose. However, I think it was also pretty lame of your opponent to rely on unit limit to save his butt after your massicared them both in a 2v1.

Sometimes i will have to fly, so i blow all my units up. If my base is about to be compleatly leaveled by a massive, massive, massive, masssive massive i mean overly huge massive army. I just blow everything up!

Oh and scream "YOU CANT TAKE ME ALIVE!"

Boom!

See Zoombie, that's exactly the kind of dickery I hate.

See, in Zoombie's situation, I typically take everything that can kill stuff and form some sort of last-ditch defense, all the while screaming "REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!"

I've actually found that the less units I have, the more enemies I manage to kill, to a certain extent. If I have 50 units, chances are I won't be able to succesfully micro them; on the other hand, if I have 15, I should be able to micro the hell out of them and kill a whole bunch of enemies.

Yeah, this is sort of what the problem is. Your enemy has spent all his time countering your attacks, and building up this enormous army, and he is now about to strike the victory blow. Instead of actually getting to trample over you with his army, you quit, and he gets no satisfaction from the fact whatsoever. If his army is really so huge that you don't stand a chance; let him kill you. It won't take long, and you can have the chance to work on your defensive skills by trying to defeat a large amount of units with a few units. I've seen one of the gnugs hold off an all-out assault using his commander and a few level 1 units, simply by continually hiding them behind objects, jumping out and d-gunning, and then hiding again.

I haven't really read this thread but here's my 2 cents.

I don't think anyone should be "forced" to have play to the end. If they want to quit, then they quit. Of course it feels bad if the winning party is still feeling exciting about who's gonna win, but it can feel just as bad to the one who feel the game is lost already.

But quitting the second one might lose is of course bad habit. So the best settlement is probably somewhere where the losing guy keeps playing atleast for some time even being bashed to give the winner his earnt joy. But drawing any lines or rules on this can't really be done IMHO since people experience this game in so many differnt ways that it can never be fun and nice all the time for everyone.

Now to the obvious (atleast should be):

Do not ctrl+a ctrl+d quit if you have any allies left! Just quit. If you wanna spectate, give all your units to your ally.

I don't think you should be putting so much emphasis on this as to go and sticky it and such. Sometimes people just get really frustrated and don't want to play anymore. They would rather just leave than sit there and be annoyed to hell. The attitude at that point of "ahahaha ive won and now i will crush you to show you how much I own you" seems rather arrogant to me.

then again Im talking about 1v1's. dunno about allie games because then you actually have teammates depending on you

I think the final kinda BLAH here is... if you are losing and you want to quit, warn your opponent, give him the option of you Self-Ding them all and saving him some time, if not, put all your factories on repeat, CTRL+A and then give a move order into the heart of your enemies base and then quit.

Well i only do it when i am really about to die. Like when i have mabey...a defencive structure and a few mexx's and a few powerplants and NOTHING ELSE!

When i have at least one construction unit or factory i stick it out till the bitter end.

Also its just a game. Why should someone have to go through the motions of victory when they have really won? I mean if the enemy has NO WAY of bouncing back, why should they hang on for another half hour (i've actually seen that happen. Both people were compleatly trashed, because they both attacked eachother at the same time, and one player had five defencive satilates, and the other guy had five defencive statilites and some construction units. So insted of surrenduring, the player with nothing left just sat there for the half hour it took for the other player to rebuild his base and blow him to kingdom come. Then all that was left was another player and me. He blew my base to kingdom come, found the other crippled players then blew them up too. Then i whatched the replay.

Once my base had been crippled i just blew everything up, said GG and went to sleep as it was 12 oklock at night at the time.

Because it is exactly a game. It's nto about who wins or lsoes; the "motions of victory" you speak of are the fun part and what the opponent has spent so much time to get to... take that away from them and you take away the whole point of the game.

Your "fun part" is what I was referring to as arrogant. the fun part of the game shouldnt be rubbing it in your opponents face, its the getting to that point. actually playing a good game and getting to the win. not humiliating someone after the fact
