thats so true...

Well, that can be true for all mods too. You want to play the 99% bug-free, final version of a mod? Play it on ota. AA, FF, XTA, SWTA, TLL, TJT. All those were meant for ota. The ports for spring aren't just port -> "ok im done, next mod". Ask Caydr and OP and the others how long they worked on the porting (and still are). Mods on OTA were tweaked and tested for many many many months on ota till perfection. The SPring engine is different to that of ota so it will prob take many months as well to perfect it for spring.
But seriously, for all of you who never played OTA, try it out, the mods were great on it too (and 99% bug free)

I dunno about those other mods but AA is almost completely bug free for spring already. And some of those wern't even bug free or balanced in OTA.

What Molloy feels right now is the same way that myself and al ot of other OTA old-timres have felt: what were promised was a recreation of TA in 3D with some more modding capability, but XTA is there instead. A lot of us felt cheated some how, what with al lthe anticipation and all.
I still dislike XTA's balance and tech tree, even though I play it regularly (although the graphics of the Spring engine makes some of that annoyance go away).
Molloy: I've given up on trying to get that PoV understood... a lot of the complaints about OTA that i've seen were by peopel whining that balance was bad, but that was because they didnt know the game or how to play it, and XTA was simply the oppotunity for a more level field because everyone was equally new to it, and suddenly "Oh, because I don't suck at this mode of play anymore, it suddenly becomes fun." and the "OTA sucks because I dont know how to play it properly, etc" attitude is present.
My philosphy: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I haven't seen an OTA-mod game on the TA Spring client for ages.
*Shrug*
Don't get me wrong, I love Spring, I know i could just love it a lot more with the OTA

Try creating one, there are a LOT of ota balance fans, at least in this forums.
Has Monthly topic rotation been suggested yet?

No one plays them, and don't kid yourself into beliving that it's just because people can't be assed to DL. I can hardly go on spring these days without seeing at least 50% AA, and cadyr updates a new version every week. Springers aren't too lazy to DL stuff. OTA just sucks.
Noone plays them because noone shoves the DL link into thier faces.
Yeah I play AA because I got a download link shoved in my face.
No really, I like something other than you so I must be a total boob.
Well, I liked OTA, FF, AA, XTA, WD, and even UTASP for TA Engine. Right now Spring seems to have in good working order: AA, and XTA. XTA is a totally different game at the strategic level, and AA is like OTA but with an expanded buildtree. Right now I play XTA because it has bot support (helps with training new addicts) , and wait for AA to get bot support.
I dont have the OTA mod on my drive right now, but I'm not averse to playing it.

Maybe you should take the hit Kuro and be a littel more "persuasive" in your advertising of your mod.

I can't download something if I don't know where to get it, after all.

IMO the reason why OTA players don't like SPRING+AA/XTA that much is because of the way the game reacts to commands you give. The OTA interface is much more responsive. You click a unit and it feels as if its instantly selected, you pick a unit on the minimap and direct it somewhere else, if you give a command to a unit it actually starts doing it straight away!! and won't stop just because you hit the "move" button 10 times a second. You hit the dgun button and it actually dguns!! You have an air unit! And if you cancel a bombing run your bomber will actually stop instead of running into the airdefense. Also, because of that "you cant shoot through your own units" thing spring is played much more defensely. If you dont build an LLT just for the case that a flea or peewee gets into your base then you can have quite some trouble killing it even if there sit 2093 units sitting infront of your plant. Controlling spring just feels awkward because of stuff like that.
In the best of all possible worlds playing a game in spring was as responsive and easy to control as a game in OTA with all those neat extra features. E.g. air units can dance, flashs accelerate fast and you can direct units on the minimap but with the addition of useful lvl2 units. That is something where the mods are much better than OTA. But for now I will wait for REALLY OTA and not some rubbish conversion where the only thing in common with OTA is the "OTA" in the name. OTA + Evolva + BP or Basically OTA, your father!

err...
1. Thread Necro
2. Many of those features are now optionable
3. Why the hell are you hitting the move button 10 times a second just to make a unit move? Once is enough...
4. Perhaps your computer, which would work fine with a game from 1997, isn't good enough for Spring?

5. You can shoot through your own units now (if the mod allows it).
6. If the plane had a higher brake and turnrate, it probably would have landed.
7. THIS ISN'T OTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I sugget you try E&E, Gundam Annihilation before you condemn yourself to the pit that is everylasting AA playing because its the only mod with a game.

The reason no ota mods are played is because some goof just took the 3.1 data files and put them in spring and called it the OTA mod. Well, that doesn't quite cut it, and the result is crap.

Swift, u just lost 5,000+ cool points.
So says the KING.

Quanto loses 10,000 cool points for impersonating the king.
Swift regains 80% of lost cool points due to it only being an opinion, however, it is a lame one.
Hail to the king baby.

I would vote all but builders instead. If the builder is inactive, it is expectable that it will repair himself (although this may bring possible balance issues).
I agreed with you, builders can auto-repair.In my Spring mod near to be launched, and in the OTA version it happens.
