Why the engine? That's just out and out silly...
It would be even sillier to have only the games on their DVD without the engine required to play them

The gundam installer contains the spring engine.

when neddie already made ct' accept the spring engine, that means for eg. smoth/gundam (or any other mod), that they will only have to check gundam, and not the engine anymore, if they want to include it. therefore, it makes sense to have the engine accepted. how could one not get that?

Yes, yes, we know that c't is important but if Gundam isn't ready it isn't ready.

Let this be a lesson to other developers: small, incremental changes. Release early, release often. Smoth doesn't have a "last stable version" he can fall back on that he feels accurately reflects the current state of the project.
It's an easy trap to fall into, and there are very good reasons to do a big massive change... but if you can avoid it and do small, incremental releases: do so.

They do those cover-DVDs regularly. Maybe ask them if its possible to include Gundam at a later point.

smoth always had something of a diva, having a absolut perfect picture of his project in his mind, never admitting that perfection is the enemy of all good things.
Hell, they even update starcraft 1.0 regulary, just accept that one or two flaws wont kill it and jump into the pool. I always wondered, if you life as a moder, eat as a moder, sleep as a moder for a while, you would end up like overprotective parents, who couldnt let go of a grown up child. Is it fear i hear there, not knowing what to do, after onces oeuvre nears completion?
DO IT, FANGOD!

honestly, it should not matter that it might be buggy....as long as you get the name across...people will still look for the updated version later(you should tell them 2 as well)
this is golden man.....
people here wet their pants about IP alot....i rllly dont think that they can sue you for makeing a non-profit open-source game resembling their content, thu they might scare you with a letter if they feel you might hurt their monopy/pofits(none the less, it will never be cost efftive too sue you...there is not way spring can take up enough of the market that is is more effeint to sue, and chances are if they sue spring it will get it's name acros and things will back-fire).....what is more is that you dont have any money to give them(i don't know, do you???), and it will also be near imposiable to force the removal of the game from the community(unless the community head helps them out of fear)

Smoth and Forb are in the Patheon, do we have to speak to them now in the 3rd person?

To avoid disappointment when buying your next copy of c't, you should reread carefully this thread. Those two posts in particular:

Smoth told me to send him an email with screenies. I did. He liked them, the site, and the youtube vids (which are really old at this point) and was rather impressed. Of course too late for this one, but he went on to say that he'd love to come back to the offer for the next one.
