Hey, didn't he ban you for divulging information?
Forboding Angel wrote:Moreover, he should be tempbanned simply because he's an asshole. It'd do him some good to get away from your computer and do things that normal human beings do. Don't let the door hit you on your way out, peet.
Woaahahaa good one. If only I'd used that logic and banned you [repeatedly] before I stepped down.

8. Posting hacks or illegal/malicious files for download is not acceptable.
7. Dodging or ignoring moderators actions is unacceptable and will result in an immediate long term ban in most cases. This includes creating a new account to avoid a temp ban or restoring a moderator edited or moderator deleted post to it's original content without permission.
He's already had a post nuked for linking, and he's threatened to do a repeat, he's also making false accusations of decompression bomb usage with his only evidence being a copy paste snippet from a commonly used example that ranks first in the search on google.

If I was really going to use a decompression bomb would it not be easier to make my own bomb and upload something a little bigger than 1GB? Cmon anybody whose anybody in a gaming community has at least 2GB of ram...

Go check the urls!

And I didn't ban him for divulging info, I removed the account due to inactivity. He wasnt the only one who hadnt bothered looking at the forums at all who got culled, especially after getting prank calls from aegis.

That one post being nuked was a mistake. And the file doesn't fit rule 8 at all.

The file is an archive of illegally obtained content

But it is not, itself, illegal. It's just some forum pages. Not the intent of that rule.

Don't worry, I'll PM it to more people next time.

It is content acquired through illegal means. Forum pages or not they were subject to an NDA, and clearly not for the public domain.

In the past moderation has intervened and there has been an uproar over the usage of models without permission, thus why should peet be exempted because the content is in document form?

Good point, I'll be sure to cease public distribution.

(Good point just sounded better...Actually it's a pretty terrible one as I never agreed to an NDA and I don't believe there's any sort of law against what I may or may not have done)

Peet was never a part of any NDA.
No one has complained about sharing models as raw model files. It has been people using models in their own games. It's not the data, it's the IP infringement.

You dont remember the huge furore when a model was taken from an OTA mdo nto logn ago against the registered ones permission?

And of course peet didnt sign an NDA, he was never allowed in, and his access was illegal, that you are using this as justification for breaking into my forums is laughable.

I don't think you're reading my posts clearly.

I am not justifying Peet's actions.

With that model, the issue was using the unit without permission. If it had been inside a zip inside the mod, no one would have cared. No one had issues with the data itself, so I disagree using that situation for comparison.

It was inside an archive, an HAPI archive but nonetheless an archive, you cannot differentiate by formats on the fly to justify a stance because you dont want to actually do anything.

Since peets ixus.zip has been selectively compiled to include certain bits and miss out others for the benefit of making me look worse, I have restored the forum, and I am opening it up to the forums.

Lol what? All I changed was the logged in username. No post-internal text or titles or anything were changed. That is a giant heap of untruth. Or are you referring to my making your web design look bad, because of the fact that the css is all broken? :?

Again, all text in the archive is pure and unadulterated. Any differences between the forum in its current state and my archive were added after this series of events. All threads except the RSS feed one were dumped into the zip.

I'm not talking about file formats. Read my words.

It's not about the model data, it's about using the model IP as a part of the game.

That is not true, numerous posts by neddiedrow where made which are not present in your version, and several threads have mysteriously vanished.

his violation of tos/rules on your forum, your server, or his isp are not our problem or jurisdiction

Really? I assure you it was an honest mistake in that case...I did most of the work manually so there was definitely room for error. The point of this operation was not to make you look bad, but to reveal the project.

His posting of illegally obtained content on these forums and threats to do so again, and false accusations on the other hand ARE.

To your second point:
The only false accusation I see was an overreaction to what you were implying with changed javascript files, looks like a mistake. If it wasn't it will be dealt with.
You did in fact have a decompression bomb on there, whether you intended to use it or not, so no false accusations there. And it was one of only two files in the entire /forum directory tree...

To your first point:
Why is it relevant to this forum how he obtained that information?

P.S. Don't neglect your own accusations of Peet editing his dump.
