this is highpoly version, target is 1k.

High poly? ROFL! :P

I don't care if it has 6,000 polies, if we get to use it in CA! (and i bet Saktoth would agree with me)

for some reason a lot of the younger europeans appear to have major problems with listening *stares at Hoi and MidKnight*

*edit for clarity* from what i could gather from spending ~10 seconds skim reading the thread, faceless is doing a highpoly version for an AO/normal/whatever bake, then will be slashing the polycount to ~1000

it isn't about poly count it is about using them where needed. It is shitty modeling when you over poly something. Half the time when people waste they do it by making details that are inconsistent with the level of detail carried by the other models, making one part over polied while another is under polied(caydr) OR they do it by hitting the f*CKINg SMOOTH BUtTON,

I'm european? :| I think I've spent less than a week in Europe my entire life! :P

the source of the misunderstanding was me not reading the word "target" XD

so that rather than reading
this is highpoly version, target is 1k.
This time i want to try create a high poly version, then bake textures and normals to low poly. Hope it will work as i expect it.
i read
this is highpoly version, it is 1k.

PL: I know that is the highpoly version, I just wanted to know how much polys the high poly version has :P

Miss Poly had a dolly who was sick, sick, sick.
So she phoned for the doctor to be quick, quick, quick.
The doctor came with his bag and hat,
And knocked at the door with a rat tat tat.

He looked at the dolly and shook his head,
And said "Miss Polly put her straight to bed."
He wrote a pad for a pill, pill, pill.
I├óÔé¼Ôäóll be back in the morning with my bill, bill, bill.

Now can we be rational please?

Evo team? Hate to break it to everyone. It's just me (and lurker who does all teh luaz). I am not a modding god like smoth, spiked/nemo, guessmyname/argh/etc. I do what I can. I am trying to get a "Team" together of sorts, cause the game actually happens to be quite good, but the models and textures cause it to look subpar, which is unfortunate, but there isn't a hell of a lot I can do about it without help.

Thanks swift for sticking up for me to a certain extent. It's nice to know that some understands at least a little bit. Jesus, I get so much crap for that, nevermind the MASSIVE amount of work that has gone into the game. ./frustration

Faceless, if you want a modeling job, please for the love of god pm me. I would kill to have someone as talented as you on the project.

Do you want people to remodel your units for you? It might just help to ask. I'm personally not a huge fan of the gameplay, but it might be a fun pet project doing a few of the units. I would think most modelers certainly wouldn't feel you'd be doing their work injustice... their work gets paired up with pretty good CEGs and put in a project that certainly gets enough love from it's lead dev.

I would *consider* it. But I am incredibly unreliable (unfortunately I only model when ideas come to me, and I feel like acting on them) and I don't particularly like doing 'contract' work (living up to my own expectations is hard enough, without having to live up to someone elses).

It would be cool if someone would redo the evo models i think. I offered to do it many moons ago, but forb wanted to try to reskin them himself (they did turn out ALOT better than they were :P )

Now, on topic. I like the model, i think it is cool that you are making a high poli version for normal mapping and preshading reasons. Good job and goodluck.

Have you seen the evo models? How could expectations be too high?

[edit] Faceless, if you get back to posting I can split this stuff into a different thread.
